Another great win for the Bulldogs. What a great coaching decision by Eddie to keep George on the bench against VMI's run and gun. He always preached about the season being a marathon, and not a sprint. Well done, Asheville!

I thought it was great to see George get some rest, although he probably could have been used a little more on some set plays. I'm happy that Gill got some productive minutes. Radford at home on Wednesday.

UNBELIEVEABLE that you would a picture on there of Bryan Smithson losing the ball. The ONE turnover Bryan had was a traveling call. So that picture is wrong. Why would be want to slam a team that is doing so well by putting pictures like that up when they win. THAT IS JUST STUPID> ......

The photo shows what the Bulldogs were up against with VMI's trapping offense...hardly seems like a slam. But people will read whatever (negative) they want into a photo.

From a fellow mountain school, let me say congrats to the season UNCA is having. Good to see it. I root for you guys in every game except the WCU game.

Good luck the rest of the way.

It's OK about the picture, it's typical publication for the Citizen Times. The caption under the picture is incorrect and MOUNTAINMAN those of us that know basketball, already knew what this team was up against. BASKETBALLKNOWLEDGE, I agree, of all the pictures that could have been published they do that one and can't get the description correct. You see, most Division I teams, after a win like that, show KJ making the game changing shot or Kenny or Sean or John or Bryan or Garrett or Reid doing one of the many remarkable shots, plays or steals! I don't think they understand how Division I ball works yet but I think they are trying. The publication after the last win against High Point was one of the first professional Division I coverages I have seen about UNCA. Even the headline wasn't a negative! By the way...who was the photographer, Chuck, who did that picture? Did he not take any other pictures out of that game? I sure hope he is from the Citizen Times and that they actually sent someone to this game.
Let's go newspaper! You have a Division I in YOUR town that is leading a Division I Conference! Do you understand how big that is?????

Basketball Man,

In defense of the newspaper, I should tell you that a) the Associated Press or someone freelancing for VMI took that picture, and b) that same photographer also wrote the cutline.

Because I wasn't on the copy desk to see the photos that were delivered, I can only assume the editor who created the page used his or her best judgement in what photo ran with the story. I hope that clears things up for you.

Also, there's no guarantee that the photographer at the game stayed the entire time (especially if they're a freelancer). Hence, there's no guarantee that a late-breaking moment like KJ's shot or George's basket would be caught on film. I'm sorry if that disappoints you.

Basketball Man,

I should add, regarding your "one of the first professional Division I coverages I have seen about UNCA."

Did you see that we traveled to Knoxville for the Tennessee game? Or Chapel Hill for the Carolina game? Or that we've run Jarrett editorials with each of the last two or three home games? If you have any suggestions for what you'd like to see for coverage, please let me know and I'll do what I can to accomodate.

Jason -

I think YOU are doing a great job. Jarrett always seems to be the pessimist. Maybe it's just his nature. It just seems like he'll always say something like, "The Bulldogs won last night improving to 10-3, which is a lot better than the 2-11 start they had back in 2004" or something along those lines. He even picked us to lose @ VMI. It just seems like Jarrett would be a little more excited about the season considering that he graduated from UNCA and this is the best team we've had in years.

With Smithson, Garland, James and Moles graduating, there's a good chance that next year will be a rebuilding season. Tell him he can start being a Negative Nancy again come October 2008.

Really cool to actually see people commenting on an article about UNCA basketball. I guess that's what happens when you start winning games. Go Bulldogs

HI, I am a Tennessee basketball fan. We are having the good times over here and I know your team is having some success as well and I have to say I am pulling for you guys. I think they have got some real spirit and Kenny George isn't just a tall guy (like you will see alot of teams have) he has decent skills. No, he is no Karl Malone or anything but he changes the compexity of the game. They really played well against the Vols. I say good luck Bulldogs!(except when you are playing UT)

No worries. I don't take any negative feedback personally. Was just trying to answer some of your concerns and frustrations, starting with the photo. Enjoy the season.
