O'Brien has no qualms about 3s

There are 22 comments on the The Indianapolis Star story from Jul 14, 2007, titled O'Brien has no qualms about 3s. In it, The Indianapolis Star reports that:

The standard approach is to get the ball to a player close to the basket, kick it out if he doesn't have a good shot, reverse it, and look for another good shot.

I'm excited to watch this team under a different coach. Obviously much of the problem at the end of last season was offensive. Hopefully O'Brien's philosophy can change that.

It's going to be a long season if we have to hoist a bunch of 3 pointers.

We don't have good percentage long range shooters...sorry Larry.

The 3 point shot is usually a bad shot percentage wise. It's much wiser to be aggressive to the basket and try to draw fouls...and if you don't get fouled..at least it's a closer shot.

This experiment will fail miserably..

Granger, Williams, Murphy, Rush...those aren't bad shooters....But, heck, according to Pacer Fan, and most people on here, we might as well cancel the season, shut it down, and go watch the Indianapolis Ice this winter...I am excited to see what O'Brien can do, and give the team a fresh start. The two guys that got suspended for 7 games don't play for us anymore...Thank God!

Pacers win consistently relying on the 3 ball. Right now, the Pacers have the worst roster in the league. Keep working those phones Larry!

I hope like heck they're not done dealing. If thats how its going to be , you better find a good shooting guard/small fwd. To me ,of the names on team mentioned above , NONE has proven to be a consistent threat from downtown...yet anyway. But I believe above all else , you need to MOVE TINSLEY..NOW, before he loses any trade value he has left.It will be an "interesting" year...thats all

This could be a breathe of fresh air! Instead of lobbing the ball into JO all the time, mindlessly at that, and watch the other team double and triple team JO and steal the frantic outlet pass or cause JO to miss or throw the ball away, this could be real entertaining. I have faith in Granger, Dunleavy, Williams, Rush, and Tinsley(only at the top of the key) shooting 3's. If this works, it could open things up inside for JO, Foster, Diogu, Harrison for bunnies, stuffs or trips to the line(start practicing those free throws boys). I loved watching the Pacers play with the make-shift team after the brawl for about 8 games. Carlisle didn't have a clue and the team was UNPREDICTIBLE. Then, Carlisle started the hand cuff act again! Started losing after winning 5 of 8 games with replacement guys and subs(Jones looked awesome). This could turn out to be a real surprise. If it does, I don't want to hear any more bad-mouthing Larry. I promise I won't either. But if this fizzles, JO will have to go before the trade deadline along with Tinsley, Murph, Harrison for young talent or draft picks. My thoughts!!!

The Pacers have the worst roster in the league? Are you kidding me? Do you know how many teams in the East would kill for our big guys? Granger, O'Neil, Diogu, Foster, Murphy, Harrison. All of those guys would be in the starting line-up or the first big man off the bench for any other team in the East (providing Harrison can stay healthy).

Tinsley is obviously not well liked on this message board, but the guy played 72 games last year and fought to play through injuries that sidelined him in the past, despite the little fan support he received. He had a pretty good season and he would thrive in an up tempo system and a team defense system, both of which will be implemented this year. Also, Tinsley is NOT the turnover machine he is depicted as people. He played in 4 less games than Steve Nash (the best point guard in basketball). Do you know how many more turnovers Nash had that Tinsley. Considering he played in a few more games, he should be given some leeway, but it wasn't even close. 87. Nash had 287 turnovers (by far the most by any point guard) and Tinsley had just 200. Tinsley is the answer at point guard, stop whining.

How about Rashard Anderson?? Him, Rush, and Dunleavy will be great from long range. He'll be a huge addition.

So shooting 3's, running & gunning is the answer. You mean like Golden Gate? Wait then...why did Nellie trade away Dunleavey and Murphy then? Because you brilliant Pacer buffoons - that's not their style! So with JO's value dropping by the day, the Pacers ONLY commodity loses leverage with every waking, Pacer moment. Who would really be that desperate for his gross contract and fading skills?

Don in Indy & the moron are in serious need of help. Your mindless drivel is quite worthless. Your posts make little sense to anyone knowledgeable about this sad current state of the Pacers. Two questions...who has a worse current roster & when has this Pacer franchise ever been in worse shape?

Um , last year was the exception for Jamaal , he sits out when his sinus' act up??? If he did get to 72 games (sounds about right) that would SURPASS the TOTAL amount of games COMBINED that he played in the 4-5 yrs prior to last year. He had to play or he knew the writing was on the wall. When he plays healthy/well he is a decent pt. guard , I'm saying he has or HAD (maybe w/Carlisle)some ISSUES , attitude wise or at least with a low work ethic at times???? And by the Way..HE SUCKS on the defensive end...my opinion

2 of those 3 (Anderson & Rush) are unproven in the NBA...AND Dunleavy , well I'll let last season speak for that..sure hope he learned to defend & shoot better over the summer...I'd like to be as positive about the up-coming season as some of ya's , but I'm just not seeing the same thing ..I need to change the lenses in my glasses to the rose color I guess...I hope the positive posters ARE RIGHT..I really do ..my gut feeling though is that NOT MUCH (for the better)has changed...good day

Well we might score 10 more ppg but we will give up 10 more ppg. Id like to see Williams at SG and Harrison at center this year as starters. Lets develop them now and maybe we get a good lottery pick and develop players with a lot of potential. We need to high pick PG or SG next year to really develop this team around that can open things up for JO and Danny.

I see more of a Dallas style, than GSW. My Boston sources tell me, get used to the 3 ball, O'Brien is serious. Can you imagine if Reggie was still here, lol.

Larry wanted up tempo last year, Carlisle could not make the adjustment. It will be interesting to see what happens. Granger, Rush, and Murph can hit the 3, Dunleavy just needs to get his confidence back.

Nets take a predictable pass on JO. PacerFans yawn then dream of Reggie. Larry still working the phones...but no one answering his calls.
