Revisiting the Kevin Garnett trade

Fans attending the Boston Celtics' home opener last week were greeted with T-shirts that read "Reloaded," a salute to the addition of 14-year forward Rasheed Wallace to a veteran lineup headed by Ray Allen, Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett. Full Story

I will never ever pull for the Boston Celtics. I hope they lose every game until KG is gone from there and retired. KG does not deserve another title.... in fact for what he did to to Wolves franchise and for how much of a jack bleep he really is in person he deserves to play for the Clippers IMO

Lets be honest, off the court, most NBA players are jerks. But on the court, KG gave the wolves everything he had. the organization did not give him the support he needed to compete.(exception to the spreewell cassel year) I am glad he got out of town and away from this terrible organization. there are too many poisons to succeed (#1 poison being Taylor, McHale messing things up,...) the wolves were allowed to be bad at the beginning, but now its just getting old!

The Wolves did get two first round picks, but I'm not certain that what the article contains is correct. One was Ellington, and I might be mistaken here, but didn't the Wolves also get back the 1st round pick they traded to Boston for Davis and Blount? Didn't that pick turn out to be OJ Mayo, later traded for Mike Miller and Kevin Love? Wasn't Miller an important part of a package that got them the rights to Rubio? If so the Wolves actually got Gomes, Jefferson, Ellington, Love and Miller and some other spare parts for KG. I love KG, but they weren't going anywhere with him and the talent levels and salaries paid to the rest of the team would have doomed them to 30 win seasons - not good enough for the playoffs, but too good to have a chance at a high lottery pick.

Jeez, you sound like a Packers fan complaining about Favre. Go KG and the celtics tonight! On and off the court he was great here, if Mchale had spent ANY money to bring in some players to compliment him, we would have had much more success. Look what happened when the Celtics surrounded him with Allen and Pierce. Im still a wolves fan and I hope the young team can learn a lot this year.

Worst trade in franchise history!! Please don't keep telling the fans that the Timberwolves will be a contender in 2 years. Do you think the Lakers would tell their fans that it will take 2 or 3 years to be competitive again after trading away a guy like Kobe??? The franchise will be bankrupt by the time the franchise has turned around. Do something about it now while there is still interest in NBA basketball.

You will never convince me that the trade was good for the T-Puppies. Garnett goes to Boston and promptly wins the championship. The T-wolves are perennially rebuilding. I'm happy for KG but it's tough to root for the T-Puppies until they put a team on the floor that can compete. I agree with Dan, it's the worst trade in franchise history, and we don't need to wait another 2 years to figure that out. In fact, I'd argue that it's one of the 2 worst trades in professional sports, period. Anyone care to guess what the number 1 worst trade was?(HINT: His initials were Herschel Walker...)

As usual the fans have to wait again to see if the owners have enough money. You know how many million did I make this year. Didn't anyone tell the owners that if you are not willing to spend the money you will never keep the teams abitity to win games.. The fans should reject the wolves until the owners start respecting the fans that go to the games. Then people will start coming again, you know that the ticket prices are high enough, just no one wants to watch this team as is. GO WOLVES

Can anyone tell me what Jonny Flynn has to do
with this trade? The article said that, in the
end, we will have to wait and see how Jefferson
and Jonny Flynn develop to judge the trade? Am I
missing something? Where does Flynn come into this? The article also said we got two draft picks
from them, one of which we used on some guard I
can't even remember and another in '11 or '12
which means Flynn has nothing to do with picks we
got in the trade.(?) What am I missing?

Ultimately it comes down to Rings. KG = 1, Twolves = 0.
