Rose should be the ball handler at the end of the game but he is a PG so he also needs to be open to distributing. He has the skills to drive to the basket as well as a good enough jump shot, but I hope they don't focus on him taking the shot every game. For one thing -- the defense will scout that and give him a hard time (kind of like how Ben used to have to field 3 defenders because scouts knew Deng and Kirk suck in the 4th). Rose had his layup stuffed last night. If they had been a little worried about the other Bulls on the floor getting the ball the lane might have been less congested and it could have gone in. As it was the scouting report said "Rose with an isolation play" and nothing else.

I'd rather Rose learn to read the floor and decide what the best shot is among of the team. Or even Vinny drawing up a play for once. Often times that guy be Ben coming off a screen or Ben at the 3pt line. The fact remains that teams will make it very hard for them if they know that 99% of the time Rose will hog the ball at the end of the game and take the shot. Keeping legit shooters like Ben in the loop means the defense has to concentrate on two guys instead of one. That is good for everyone. Even if Ben isn't going to be with the team next year Rose needs to get used to kicking the ball out to SOMEONE now and then for his own development. Bonus is that Gordon is clutch and that will be an awesome assist racked up for Rose. The Bulls are much better when they are setting screens for a number of players instead of standing around and watching the Rose show or the Ben show by themselves. I want to see Rose AND Ben taking those shots. Maybe even Tyrus if he rolls to the basket after setting the screen. No one would expect Tyrus.

KC is also forgetting that Rose has been fouled on several of those late game drives, but since he's a rook, he does not get those calls.
The ball needs to be in Rose's hands at the end of the game for the reasons Vinny mentioned, period. Everyone knows Gordon is Mr. Clutch for this team, so they key off on him. By next season, alot of those shots will fall for Derrick. I mean just look at how deadly his mid range shot has gotten and its only the All-Star break.

Just finished talking with my friend on the west coast, who has ties in the Kings organization who are inquiring about Stoudamire. The Suns are telling everyone what the Bulls offered and seeing if they can do better. If nothing better comes, Stoudamire will be a Bull in exchange for Gooden, Tyrus, Thabo, Simmons, and 1st rnd pick, and Phoenix will probably throw Alando Tucker in there as well.

So the offer is on the table, it's just up to the Suns to say "yes".

Derrick has to have the ball in his hands with the game on the line. He can either make a play for himself or find the open man. Ben Gordon has turned the ball over so many time in clutch situations in his career. I don't trust him at all with the ball in his hands. BG can take the last shot, I just don't want him dribbling the ball and trying to create something because it never works in crunchtime.

Gee Whiz, how about SUPRISING the defense and using someone like Nocioni or Hinrich to take the final shot. Phil used Kukoc , Kerr, Paxson, Hodges, etc it wasn't always just Jordan or Pippen. It was about THE PLAY! COACHING!!

Let's just let Rose head out to the floor all alone after the last timeout and have him work around until he gets a shot off...
Same thing...
That way all you guys that have man-crushes on Rose can get an extra rise when he scores 1 on 5...
This is the most useless piece I've seen KC write...
VDN comes off dumber than ever on this one...

Man, will that SUCK for the Bulls...
If you guys hated Hughes and Soriano, wait until you get a load of Stoudemire's act.

This post just shows how inept VDN is. I agree that Rose should have the ball in his hands at the end of games but damn, run something besides a isolation. Vinny tells Rose to penetrate to the basket and i can recall 3 times already where his shot has been blocked in last second situations.

Wow a 1st rd included. I hope that don't come down and they go with Portland's offer of Bayless, Aldrige and 1st rd pick.

this last shot stuff is great but, the idea is to win the game sort of handily. if the bulls can only figure out how to win without last second shots, maybe they can compete for the playoffs. by the way, why do we have 2 guys making 18 million per year riding the bench? seems like a lot of money for a couple of bench-warmers. am i right or wrong?

the bulls would be ridiculously stupid to get rid of tyrus, thabo, and gooden. and plus a 1st rounder when amare could be a free agent if he chooses not to come back. that trade just doesnt make any sense to me and dont think even john paxson could be dumb enough to do it.

If Gordon's got the ball, 9 times out of 10 he'll shoot it. If Rose has the ball, he'll always look for the open man. Gordon can't pass, dribble, or defend. He's playing for next years contract. That's the difference in these 2 guys.

if you want an all-star like amore, you might have to give something up. it may be tyrus. i'd give up nocioni, the joker, gooden, and maybe a 1st rounder. done. but i'm not paxson. my prediction is nothin ghappens.

Technically, he's still an all-star...He's the starting PF in this years game.

If Stat leaves during the 2010 off season, that's 19-20 million the Bulls could offer to another FA. Maybe they could convince LeBron to play for the Bulls and let him wear 23 (yes i know it's retired, i'm being sarcastic).

Thabo's perimeter D will be missed and the Bulls will just have to watch Tyrus catch Ally-Oops from Nash.

Everyone knew what Rose was coming in, and that wasn't being "the shooter" at the end. He got the ball "to the shooter".

Let him do what he is and does best.

Do you really see Thabo developing here? Gooden is gone this summer and the draft is weak this year unless your picking top two or maybe three. The pick will almost certainly be top three protected.

I love Thomas and actually was glad when Pax traded Aldridge for him in the draft but I wouldn't let him stop me from getting a 26 year old 4 time allstar who is capable of putting up huge offensive numbers. Do it!!!

He would fit well with the style of the team.
