you forgot this...
"Everywhere I looked, I had a weapon to pass it to,'' Alston said after recording eight assists and helping his new team rout the Charlotte Bobcats 92-80 on Friday night.

"I think point guards in this league would love to be in that situation,'' he added. "Everywhere you turn, you've got a guy who can flat-out shoot it or can drive it and finish.''
I have to admit, Otis really pulled a good one with this trade. I didn't see it coming, and I doubted he would do anything at all. He kept quiet and made a killer deal. We got rid of a lot of our "garbage". Now I just wish we would have still kept Bogans..

Now it was only one game. Lets not get too excited. hes a good player and alot better than what we had with Jameer out. But he is not Jameer. His assists are the same as Nelsons. His points per game are alot lower. He will certainly help us but can we be elite again, time will tell...

Yes but he got those assists with the Rockets. I'd expect his assists to go up with the Magic. Just look at the quote posted in the very first comment.

The magic are lucky to have a point guard like rafer who can push the ball up the floor, and who can score, espceailly now that jameer is injured

Look son... that was his first game with Orlando not knowing the plays and with 2 hours to get ready. He might not score as many points as Jameer but we dont need his scoring! We have great shooters and to be honest with you the offense looked awesome with him. He is obviously a better passer than Jameer and that's what coaches should expect from a starting pg. Good Job Othis.. Next year... best 1-2 punch at the point with scoring and defense. Rafer is a heck of a defender too don't forget that. See you next season Jameer

Now I believe the magic are contenders for a championship. We need a good passer. Someone that could give dwight the ball in his sweet spot. Our team seemed to do only as well as Jameer played (scored). If he did not score we were in trouble oftentimes. Don't get me wrong, Jameer was having a great season. However he has only come close to playing a full season twice in his (young)5 years.
Rafer can make some great unexpected passes to guys that are open...some of our players may not even be ready for it...until they get in sync: like dwight was to some degree in the Bobcats game.
Now I wish we had bogans instead of Lue...who will more than likely get buried on the bench.

jameer is our future, alston is our temporary fix as he's getting old. Nelson is also an allstar who still hasn't hit his ceiling, we're not trading nelson. Rafer, however, will make one of the best backup PGs in the nba next year.

His ast avg is misleading. I used to follow him because I had him on my fantasy basketball team for a couple seasons and still check up on him because of that. He wasn't right for the rockets at all, even then he racked up assists when he was able to fully control the ball. Having to play w/ t-mac forced him to become a spot-up shooter too often, which we all know is his weakest skill. Now, he has more shooters to pass to and a more athletic big man that he can lob to... yao was always grounded. It appears the magic want him to control the ball a lot, so i expect his ast numbers to go up. Remember, the rockets are not a run n gun team, they have to play slowball because of yao. This team is obviously better suited for raf, it's just a matter of whether our guys knock down the shots or not.

Did you read what turk said? "I was running out there. If you don't run with him to get the ball, he'll find somebody else." He motivates players to run and and restores the confidence they needed. He's the perfect compliment to our players. With dwight, he'll be able to lob and run w/ him. Lewis will get more open looks w/ alston than he did w/ nelson, that's a plus for the leading nba 3pt shooter. Turk will be less fatigued because he won't have handle as much and might regain some of his confidence from last season - when he does handle and drive, it'll be much more effective. Pietrus' poor shot selection might even reduce as he'll be looking to spot up on the 3pt line more often. Courtney lee will love running w/ the dude.

I know it was one game. But after one game, we all saw how great he can pass. Not because of his assist total, but how accurate and confident his passes were. When lue was pout out there we knew from the first couple passes that he wasn't going to get it done, no zip or confidence on his passes. Alston doesn't turn it over much either. 8:1, A high assist to turnover ratio on this team is scary. If alston can run the show today like he did the last game, i'm celebrating w/ some drinks. The game should be interesting now that the heat have Jermaine O'neal. Hopefully it doesn't rain on our parade.

yeah, especially after the season he had before injury. What he said is a statement you would've heard a couple seasons ago, not this season. Even if one didn't know much about basketball, it doesn't take a genius to realize you keep the allstar and make the aging non-allstar your backup.

Othis... GM of the year! Rafer fits prefectly... Everybodies numbers will go up.... he look unstopable... he was a little off shooting but like i said before... we dont need him scoring 17 like Jameer average... watch out boston... This move will toughen our defense and get our offense up and running... with him and Turk taking care of the ball im not afraid to say... its over!! Magic time baby! Now dont get discourage if he has a bad game.... anyways.... it wasnt like we gave up alot for him... Go Magic!

this could also help jameer step his game up more next year, he really hasn't had a good veteran mentor. and the best thing is next year we wont have cookie and possibly another wasted draft pic sitting on the bench lue's contract is up after this year so are all the other scrubs so this off season they can find real role players.

Take your pick Guys & Gals:

Lakers/Kobe or Celtics/KG ?

Nevermind Skip... he has never done anything in 10 years, kinda like Hedo did something for one year lol.

I say Kobe gets the Trophy!

Oh yes...I think Jameer would be an excellent backup to Miller in Philly. He could walk to work that way.
