Hey ... I'm just a fan.
The man (Lee) has paid his dues, maybe won the hearts of Knick-fans.
In other words, he's earned some (missing) back-pay, as well as just deserts for future contributions.
Pay The Guy What He's Worth.
$7 million per,$8 million per, Whatever the prevailing rate is, for a guy with his obvious gifts; including this key one; the spirit of cooperative (read "TEAM") play. That's why David Lee's a winner; he understands the game, just like Phil Jackson does, for example.
