How is this a great deal for us? I assume the players we get are just for cap clearance for next year? I'm not quite sure how a #5&6 help so much, unless they are somehow used to move up??? Kahn certainly has piqued my interest in the team, that's for sure. Hope he pulls it off.:)
yeah, i don't know how psyched about it i am either. not saying miller and foye are stars or anything, but they are some of the more consistent veterans we have. this is undoubtedly a weak draft and anyone that we get is going to be a project. the only way this would be worth it is if we could somehow pull up to the numbers 2,3 (maybe 3,4) and get both thabeet and rubio. i think rubio is going to be very good in a few years and although i don't think he'll ever be a star, thabeet will fit in well with our front line and bring some defensive toughness to the paint.

This franchise is an utter mess. I just don't quite understand what this team is attempting to do. Well, at least the "Mc - Hell" era is over. Good luck wolves fans.

wow! what a hideous move by the Wolves. to trade two decent players just to receive a pick and three bench players. I think its about time khan man starts worrying about his job.
As if you have a clue what this roster will look like on Friday morning.

I have to chuckle a bit about all of these proposed trades. Do you think the teams they are trading with are stupid? This is not a very deep draft so I doubt that many of the deals proposed here would even be considered.

My initial thoughts were that we should keep all of these draft picks and use them ourselves, but the more I think about it, I think we need to trade up.

First of all, our roster is all jammed up. We don't have room for more than about 2, maybe 3, rookies. Even then we may have to buy out a contract, or two, or complete some trades in which we trade two contracts and take back one. Maybe we could trade some of the later picks for picks in the 2010 draft, but who knows what kind of deal we would get.

Secondly, I don't like the way this is probably going to play out for us if we stand pat. Griffin goes one. Memphis is ok at center and good at SF and SG/PG with Mayo, ok at PG with Conley. They could really use a PF like Hill, but 2 is way too high. If backed into a corner they probably go with Harden, Evans, or Rubio and then make the best of it, or trade later in the draft. Either way, one of those 3 goes out at 2 if it is Memphis drafting. Oklahoma City is set with Westbrook, Durant, and Green. They could use a center or a SG. I think the talk about Rubio is a bluff as that takes the ball out of Westbrooks hands, and crushes his ego. OKC will take Thabeet or Harden. Sacramento will take Rubio or Evans at 4.

So, it could go Griffin, Harden, Thabeet, Rubio/Evans. Or it could go Griffin, Rubio/Evans, Thabeet/Harden, Rubio/Evans.
This is fine if Curry is a guy that we are targeting, but I think Rubio and Evans are higher on our wishlist.

I think the Wolves would love to have Rubio and Thabeet and there is a way that it could happen. Memphis wants out of two. Hill fits, but they are a laughingstock if they take him at two, but not at six. The Wolves are unlikely to see Rubio at five. Thabeet maybe. The Wolves could solve their problem, and Memphis's problem, by trading the 6, the 18, and either the 28, or the two seconds, to Memphis for the 2. The Wolves could get Rubio at 2, OKC takes Harden or Thabeet, Sacramento takes Evans, and the Wolves get either Harden or Thabeet (whichever OKC doesn't take). We fill two slots with the best at the position. Memphis can take Hill at 6 and not feel bad about it, plus Memphis picks up the 18 and either the 28 or two second rounders.

Who knows what will happen. Kahn made a pretty bold move yesterday. The price of two veteran shooters was higher than most people thought the Wizards would get for the 5. If the players that we get in this draft turn out to be busts we will have the least talented roster in the NBA. If they pan out, then we could rise through the ranks pretty quickly. It should be interesting.
