Not making a World Series in 18 years is not sub-par?
Not saying that the Twins haven't underachieved, but here's the teams with a longer pennant drought than the Twins:

Chicago Cubs
Texas Rangers
Washington Nationals/Montreal Expos
Seattle Mariners
Pittsburgh Pirates
Milwaukee Brewers
Baltimore Orioles
Kansas City Royals
Los Angeles Dodgers
Cincinnati Reds
Oakland A's

On a related note, the Timberwolves are tied with the Knicks for the longest NBA playoff drought.

for me persoanlly...they won 2 in a 4 year span and I have always said that if they would win ONE in my lifetime I would be happy...so...I am and always will be a loyal TWINS fan ..the Vikings, well, that is a whole 'nother story there...and the Woffies, what can you say...today we lifted that monkey, aka Frankenberry off our back and maybe we can start to turn things around....I am of the thinking that just becuz they haven't made the Series in 18 years I would NOT rate them subpar..they have had subpar seaons but not a subpar organization..
you like to pick arguements don't you? I sure have noticed that about you and many of your posts...not that I have a problem with that, heck I don't care, I enjoy a good barb as much as the next guy but I sure notice you are not afraid to take your shots as well...and I like that, you go for it.........Peace brother......

Kahn should hire Bill Laimbeer as Head Coach and name Eric Musselman as his #1 Assistant.

There are 25 quotes on this subject, not sure if any were deleted by the site.

I added this subject about 30 minutes ago from the Wire.

It's an awkward step in the right direction. Contrary to Mr. Kahn's timetable a coach before the draft is the next step.
And there are experienced candidates available. Hopefully, Mr. Kahn has them on speed dial.
I agree it's a bad move...The new coach would draft players that reflected his style of play, and that he could work with. It's like ordering the materials for a house before consulting with an architect.

Situations aren't usually as good or as bad as they appear on comment blogs. That being said, this could either be a good or bad move depending on what the next move is. It was probably too late, but McHale did seem to be growing into his role as coach. His GM duties carried on too long and would always overshadow any other role with the Wolves.

I hope the Wolves go with a proven coach rather than try to give the "next great coach" his first job. Sam Mitchell has enough coaching history and good will with the team to warrant consideration, but if there is a better choice for the team that's more important.

Coaches get paid to win. Players get paid to play. And GM's are supposed to make the right moves to put people in the seats.

Kevin is a nice guy, but as a GM or as a coach he had a very hard time doing either. He did fool the owner for about 15 of the 17 years though. Maybe Glenn's hair dye crossed up his thought process.

I hope that with these changes folks can start going to games to watch the Wolves, instead of the other team. Mr Kahn - hire a coach before the draft..........

It's a good thing the Wolves waited so long to make this move. That way, there was no chance of bringing back Flip. 0_0

As we all know, white men can't jump. With 3 good draft choices coming up, I think the Timberwolves made this good move just in the nick of time. Mr. Mac I'm sure is a nice guy and a fine, upstanding citizen, but he needs help in his basketball-picking skills. Some of his trades and picks were as good at basketball as the hot dog vendors who work at Target Center. If allowed to stay for the upcoming draft he may well have picked 3 players who would have a hard time even making as a sub on Battle Of The Network Stars.

How many years are we supposed to wallow in mediocrity? Good grief, any other team wouldn't have given him more than 5 years. Either get some decent players and a good coach, or disband. Minnesotan's are so used to sub par teams. Except for the twins, they all ****, including the college teams.

Thanks for being so loyal Kevin, taking the heat for all the moves I came in and demanded. Thanks Glen for giving me a huge contract so we coudnt sign a true number one guy that could take over a game. Thanks for signing my friends to horrible contracts so I could be around my dogs. Man Im so Sota. Look what I did for that organization. Its all McHales fault, not mine.

We expected Hall of Fame performance in coaching and GM duties similar to McHale's playing skills. He needed to be relieved of his duties, but clearly his contributions to MN are far more impressive than the disappointment of his failures.
