Q. How does Kevin McHale still have a job after numerous bad trades (Allen for Marbury, Roy for Foye, Mayo for Love) and acquisitions?

A. Well, you see, he has this video..........

That's an unfair characterization.

I join most national analysts when I say that I like the Mike Miller/Kevin Love trade, particularly since it removes Marko Jaric's third year, but at a minimum, you'd have to admit that its too soon for you to call it a "bad trade." Kevin McHale has made several good trades as well -- perhaps the best being getting an All Star PG and a lottery pick for the disgruntled Marbury. Lately, the Wolves trades have been very good. The Blount trade to Miami not only brought us salary relief, but a protected 1st round pick. Trading a little of our cap space to PHI for Carney and another protected pick is hard to argue with. In fact, after the KG trade (which I think was good for us, Boston, and KG), the Timberwolves front office has done a tremendous job moving so many veteran players to bring in a young team, gather tremendous financial freedom, and add four first round picks. The Wolves future looks bright, and its because of so many good trades in the last year.

Q: How is that you were able to make your billions given the fact that you speak and sound like a country bumpkin??

A: Ummm.... I'll find out and get right back to you with that...

All kidding aside I do LOVE the fact that we potentially have 4 number picks in next years draft because of the recent trades we have made and that we have gotten rid of those slugs Marco, Blount etc.. 4 top 20 picks can allow you o turn around your club very quickly. I hate to say it but good work McFail!!

I can't wait for the opener. This is going to be a fun team to watch, assuming Wittless doesn't screw it up too bad. I'm really curious about what the starting lineup will be. I hope to god that Madsen isn't in it, but I have a feeling that he will be.

I'd go with Foye, Miller, Brewer, Love, Jefferson.

But I think Witt will go with Foye, Miller, Gomes, Jefferson, Madsen.

Guess we'll see soon enough.

Go Wolves!!

huh... wonder what that says, 20 years and they have done nothing. Go Taylor Mcfail and the Wolves. I here that jefferson guy is decent, why not trade him to the celtics. This franchise is about as pathetic as it gets and we also have the Vikings.....

What is so hard to accept about the Celtics winning the championship, was the fact that McFail could have assembled the same time with Garnett already being in place, but he didn't. We could have kept Garnett, traded our 1st round, 7th overall pick (Corey Brewer) for Ray Allen, and traded 6 players for Paul Pierce. On top of that, we could of had Roy instead of Foye running the point. Taylor and McFail must be serious buddies because if I was the owner, McFail would have been instantly fired. And I guarantee OJ Mayo becomes an all-star in this league. Yes, he is waaay overrated and has more hype around him than almost any other player coming through the prep ranks, but he still will become an all-star. McFail should be fired!

don't count on having 4 top 20 picks.
utah and boston should be good enough again to not be in the lower 20. if wolves finish with pick not in the bottom 10, the pick goes to the clippers(I think?).
miami pick could be a good one, but all sorts of circumstances on when wolves will get it.

Forget the trades we could have made to assemble the current Celtics trio as our own....WE DRAFTED Ray Allen back in 1996. Let me say that again.

McFail drafted Allen and then proceeded to trade him for Starbury. Look at the results today. I wouldn't be surprised if that move foreshadowed McFail's decisions to come. He showed his wisdom in trading Roy for Foye to Portland on draft night in 2006. Look who became Rookie of the Year that season. HINT: it wasn't Foye.

Bottom line: McFail knows talent (hey, cut him some slack...he did after all, on the advice of Flip Saunders, draft...ehem...KG) in Drafts, but can't seem to hold on to it without running around and selling/giving it away to other teams.

We could have had the Celtics current roster last year (with the exception of Pierce, who we could have easily traded for) had McFail not made draft-night mistakes over the years. Let's hope the Mayo-Love swap doesn't fall under the McFail draft-night curse tradition.
