The best part of this trade is the No. 1 pick. The guys in it add some depth to the bench, and could be decent. But this trade was mostly for the draft pick.

Actually it's a three way deal Kevin Love and Al Jefferson are included in the deal and they go to Boston.

is mcfail making good moves??? what has gotten into him? it appears as if he DOES have a plan. with the ridiculous amount of draft picks he is stacking up and the contracts we have that will expire over the next two years, we should be very competitive in three years. that is if mcfail doesn't mess up free agency over the next two BIG years. way to go guys...looks like your not a team of monkeys after all!?

i think we are giving up around 2.8 million for philly to clear cap space. they will then be able to more aggressively pursue josh smith or elton brand.

need a point guard or two.
madsen to rockets for steve francis. may have to throw in a second round pick (wolves have two next year and two in 2010 including houstons).
or
make a trade with bulls for hinrich, but do not give to much.

Are we going to count on McHale to spend the money wisely? He is the same guy who gave Cassell and a #1 to the Clippers for Marko, then signed him to a six year contract. How about Will over Bobby Jackson a few years back? What about Marcus Banks being "the key" to the trade with Wally a couple years ago?

Yes, he's doing a decent job of dumping contracts to free up space. Let's just not forget that he's the one who took on all those terrible contracts of mediocre players in the first place.

this is could a decent starting line up with no trades. Foye (PG) Miller (SG) Gomez/Smith (F) Jefferson (PF) Jason Collins (C). Love could work his way into the starting line up as year progresses. Sixth Man McCants, backups for now: Love, Gomez/Smith, Brewer, Telfair (if resigned or another true PG), Calvin Booth.

Trade bait for a good PG: Rodney Carney, Chris Richard, Brian Cardenal, Mark Madsen.
I would trade all the trade bait for Hinrich!

If this trade is true and all were giving up is a trade exception this team has made some very good moves. Its a lot easier to build a ship then to patch up the holes that have been created from hitting rocks.
1st rock) Starbury wanting to be the man elsewhere
2nd rock) Loosing Googs to free agency
3rd rock) Loosing 4 first rounds picks for the under the table deal to sign Joe Smith.
4th rock) Cassell and Hudson BOTH being injured in the 2004 playoffs, leaving the CBA's Derrik Martin to run the show against Shaq and Kobe.
5th rock) Cassell and Sprewell's me first attitude not only screwing up the teams chemistry but also allienating its fan base and getting the coach fired.

With no picks to trade for better talent and a superstar and a good coach the Wolves were never in the position to get all stars to build upon with. McHale made stupid trade after stupid trade trying desperatly to find the right group to put around KG. He was plugging up the holes of a sinking ship the best way he could, by grabbing whatever was in front of him and acting, not thinking. Now that he is building the ship rom the ground up he seems to be making a lot better moves. I know its not the biggest trade in the world, but were stacking more chips(Draft Picks) and got a littel talent in Carney to boot.

I actually am surprised the Twolves are the receivers of this "gift" trade. Philly is so anxious to get Brand or Maggette or Smith that they are clearing as much cap space as possible. Nice gift to us. But don't blow it McHale. Holy cow, all these draft picks coming up, the cap space in 3 years, it is going to be a great situation to have a competitive team again. But don't blow it your classic Marko Jaric type dealings.

Whether it is McHale or Hoiberg, the Wolves finally look like they have a plan and a clue. Rodney Carney is a nice depth player at the 2 and 3 position, plus we got another 1st round pick. We gave up a 2nd round pick, but I think we got 2 or 3 more of those from Miami on draft night. For a team that never seemed to have a first round pick or salary cap space for so many years, suddenly the Wolves have an embarrassment of riches, and future salary cap space. Dare I say us Wolves fans can have hope?

I think it's the Hoiberg effect. We haven't made many common sense moves until now. Let's just not waste those draft picks on some six eleven soft jump shooting European guy who plays against a bunch of nobodies where nobody plays defense.

We get two guys we can't possibly want. We are loaded with small forwards, and career backup centers. I can't see Carney being better than those he will compete against. If you call Love and Jefferson power forwards (who play center occasionally), then MAYBE Booth is better than the other bad cast of centers on the roster.
