Good trade. Ariza, while having promise, just didn't fit in and take advantage of the opportunities given to him by Stan. Evans is an Ariza clone with a better three-point shot. He's athletic, fast and a good defender. Cooker adds depth to our front court and, in SVG style, can hit the three a la Robert Horry. All in all, we didn't give up much and added some much need depth to our team. Good job, Otis!

I really liked Trevor and his potential, but his minutes have been spotty. Any time you can get two halfway decent role players, it may not be the worst trade, we'll see.

I'd also like to take this opportunity to wish Bo well. He embodied the Magic's heart and hustle. Hopefully he'll join Nick Anderson and stick around the organization. Here's to you, Bo!

I really like Ariza and his one of my favorites, but this trade works for the magic very well.

Cook is 6'9, shoots 39% from the 3 point line and defends well. Evans is a SG that could play with the same energy that Ariza used to play.

I know we all love Ariza, but he did not fit into SVG system b/c Ariza can't shoot the ball well.

Best luck to him and I hope he won't kill us when we play the Lakers

Wow.
Another uninspiring step backward for the lakers.
We lost a great shooter and a fighter for somebody
with "promise."
It's getting very difficult to watch this team sink in the quicksand and quagmire of mismanagement. Never thought I'd say THAT!
Go L.A. Averages!

Does anyone here know if Evans and or Cook are good on the defensive side of the ball ? It seemed to me that Trevor Ariza was a good defender as well as being able to slash to the basket.

I hope Ariza the best and actually think he will thrive in L.A. He was just not getting min here though he could have, but Stan is the man and I will give Otis and company the benefit of the doubt as we are playing so well and good feelings are in the air! Besides, I like the additions!!!

i don't know guys ariza was not a stat monster buy he was hussle and underneath the basket buckets. i have seen brian cook and he's a big man with an outside jumper no inside. i hope it works out but i always thought ariza was a hard worker hussle without all the stats that everyone worries about...good luck...go magic.

I REALLY like both Trevor for his game, and Bo for for just being Bo. Hopefully, we got good trades for Trevor, but I'm unfamilar with the players we got in return. I would (like "jguy" above) hope that the Magic organization finds a place for Bo in the organization. Quality individual!

I wish it was Redick instead of Ariza, but the Lakers probably didn't want him!

ariza was good under brian hill so i can just imagine how good he would be under svg. same with redick he's not playing should he be traded too. what a wasted pick just like many others for the magic...get the fron office liable for all the blunders they make as well...

Evans is a solid defender. Much stronger than Ariza so he can handle guys in the post. Cook, not so much as he likes to roam the perimeter, but I've seen him block some shots, so he has potential defensively down low. Altogether, a solid trade for solid depth. It's the kind of trade a streaking team like ours needs to shore up holes. Otis should get credit for having the chutzpah for dealing Trevor who could become great. Or maybe not? Who knows. He's now been traded twice. That's telling.

Just so everyone know...the magic used the exception given by the NBA b/c of Battie's injury.

I think this is the only trade the magic would do this season.

Something else I didn't know

" Cook was in the firsrt year of a three-year,$10.5-million contract and had struggled with his shot this season as well as his defense. Evans, in the final year of his contract, had been a hot-and-cold contributor from the bench" LA Times

Wish Trevor all the best out in L.A.
As for Bo, what a consumate professional. Surely there has to be a good spot in the orginization for him.
I think these new guys will fit in well with SVG's system. Also, look for both of them to get out of the gate quick in trying to impress the team and the great fans of the Orlando Magic.

LOL ... you can say the same thing about Ariza they said of Evans. Nevertheless, it comes down to systems. These are two guys who I believe will work well in SVG's system, a very different system from Jackson's. Keep that in mind.

Thanks for the reply. You make some good points regarding both players coming here to Orlando. I think they will fit in well here in SVG's style of play. Also when we play Detroit in the future we will be able to match up a little better now. I agree it was a good trade all in all.

Yeah isn't Phil still running the triangle out there in L.A.?
