Full story: Orlando Sentinel

J.J. Redick turns 24 today. To him, though, his jump shot isn't getting any younger.

What JJ needs to realize is that he needs to improve his play - as in finding ways to shoot or score without having the play designed for him. In college he was one of the premier players on his team which meant that coaches designed plays to free him up to take the 3 point shot. In the NBA, he is not one of the top options in the team and therefore he needs to create the opportunities to score by himself. He should try to develop the ability to go to drive to the basket which will open up the opportunity for his 3 point shot. The only way he can be a threat is if the other team thinks he can go to the basket. Without it he is easy to guard and not a real threat to score on any team.

Pathetic owners allow racist (likely) management to ruin a young man's future. Announcing that he will not play JJ, Otis declares that he intends to draft a shooting guard to fill the teams biggest need. Huh! JJ smoked the other backcourt player in practice every day. But Otis is not going to give JJ a chance. I thought those decisions were made by the coaching staff. No bal*s Stan can't say a word.

The topper in this tragedy is the premature announcement that JJ will not be traded. Otis is devoting one more year to try and break JJ. Even if it hurts the team. If JJ were a lot darker OS would probably set him free, declaring "it's only right to give him a chance to succeed".

This is an outrage. Magic fan should speak out in actions and words. Empty seats speak volumes.

If the man is that bad why not trade for a 2nd rounder and save 1.6 million $$$.That way He can come back at least twice a year and kick Our Butts.

It's racial.
The JJ fans should all drop any tickets and quit going to the Magic games.

I'm rooting for JJ to play.....if he deserves the minutes.

The bottom line is, IF he deserves the minutes. If he's getting schooled in practice, then does he deserve to play? The answer is NO!

JJ, get your defense on brother because we know you can score!

I'm rooting for you!

Go Magic!

Mainly because that would be admitting to the entire NBA that they screwed up when they drafted him. Very embarrasing to trade a lottery pick for a second rounder after only two years. Their best hope is to keep saying good things about him and hopefully someone will trade them something of value. But base on the quote in the article about the lack of interest that is a long shot.

JJ is one of a pure shooter in that team and Magic will never see how good he is. He deserve to get some minutes and let the other team defend him around the arc. Lewis is not a consistent 3pointer that we are looking for. I believe JJ can help us in a lot of ways and Van Gundy just need to trust him and see what he can do.

The Magic need management that can evaluate talent. Otis Smith has shown no real signs of being able to do that. Just look at his draft picks. It is hard to figure why Smith holds on to Redick. The more Redick doesn't play the less valuable he is for trading. I am not sure Smith understands that. Smith will never take the Magic to a championship level. The Magic need to raise their expectation level by actions and not just accept Smith's laid-back dreaming and talking of a championship. Boston is a great model for an immediate turnaround.

LOL I bet the all "Darkey" Celtics just about made you burst. You and everyone like you is a joke.

If JJ could play he would be. The Game is about money period. Actually Carlos seems to have the same affect (racist fans only backing him because of his ethnicity not his game)I wish JJ was a Ponit Guard Personally. I dont care for Jameer...not even a little bit.

At any rate I dont care what race or creed or color or whatever about who ever. I want wins!

So to all so called Magic fans, Be a Magic fan. I am a huge fan of D12 but if he (Basketball deities forbid) left Orlando for any reason I would still watch him. I still watch Shaq, but I am no Suns fan. Get my drift.

GO MAGIC

P.S I dont really like Otis that much either.

Bean town got lucky, very lucky. They had awesome timing. However they will look like the heat in 2 maybe three years. The Magic have a "core" of young players and they should look good for the next 4 to 5 years. everyone wants a quick fix, Me included.

The error that Otis made was over paying Lewis. I really like lewis, he played well (not great), and he did not whine like every other player would spending a whole year out of position.

Here is one for you JJ fans: The vet and great character guy Lewis, let JJ keep #7 which was lewis number.Though not a Marksmen from 3 point land he can create his on shot, slash, play ok defense not mention he is 6'10. If jj was 6'6 believe me defense or not he would start ala Ray Allen.

Some stellar draft picks recently, Fran Vasquez doesn't even want to play in the United States and JJ Redick is just the next white boy Duke bust.

It would be a mistake to not trade JJ Redick. We can get something for him. He is not what we need at SG. He can shoot but we need D and someone that can do all the little things. I think we should trade him in an attempt to move up in the draft and get Brandon Rush. I propose this deal Redick, Fran Vazquez, and one or two future 1st rd. picks to Portland for the #13 pick. We get Rush at 13 and then at 22 we take JJ Hickson. I am probably dreaming but I think it makes sense for both teams.

Two very different NBA coaches have now coached JJ, and neither one of them thought JJ was good enough to put into the rotation. That pretty much sums it up. JJ does NOT "deserve" minutes. He has to EARN them. Obviously that hasn't happened. Bottom line is that, if he was good enough, he would play. At this point, I would trade JJ for a few sweat towels if I could get even that much for him.

JJ should have never have believed one word of what Otis & Stan were selling.
He had his 2 year draft contract then decided that he would sign for 3 more years. JJ could be making triple or more the $ in Europe and perhaps get some PT with someone like Memphis.
My theory is this. You believed the liars and signed...so now you can sit for another year. Tough Sh**.

Maybe after this year they will let JJ go but I think they are only keeping him because the white part of the owners know he's a ticket seller and is a admired so much by so many fans.

Doesn't matter to me anymore...I actually think Evans will sign here because everyone in the league but Otis know he's just backup player.

Then Otis will draft Lee (if not a Big guy) that will leave JJ happy to sit behind Evans, Bogans, Lee and God knows who else. He will be the greatest conditioned bench sitter of all time.

So much for signing contracts on promises...it's pretty much worse than Rich Rodriquez's contract.
