From a strategic standpoint how would you guys start off in game 1 ? Would you start bombing 3's right off without giving Dwight many touches ? Or would you allow DH to go to work early and keep feeding the post ?

Feed the post to get Bosh and Nesterovich in foul trouble. Once the double teams come, start launching the 3's. Make Dwight happy first, when he's happy he plays better D. When his shoulders are slumped he gets very lazy and lags. If he can make foul shots in the playoffs the Magic will be hard to beat.

hey you wrote:
Give up the JJ stuff. Please. Remember years when the Magic were REALLY awful they had a guy named Chris Corchiani. He was the ALL-TIME leader in assists when his time at NC State was up. A fantastic college player. But what happened to him in the NBA? Nothing. A cup of coffee with the Magic, then he disappeared. "Haywood" is correct. A great college player does not always translate into a great NBA player. JJ is too slow to get his own shot in the NBA, and if he was any good he'd be playing ahead of career backups like Evans and Dooling. The Magic have seen him every day in camp, in practice and at games. I'm not saying JJ is without value, but get realistic, people! He will never amount to any more than a solid backup at best. His physical limitations will not let him be anything more. Sorry, Dookies!
you know this right, then why did the magic waste the 11th pick on him, they knew what he was in college, if they had done their homework on the draft instead of listening to dicky v. that should have never happened...right

We'll see...
BTW, my hope is that the Magic win the first game and this discussion will be totally unuseful.

But usually that first win for a young team like Toronto might be the booster they need.
I wouldnt bet much on the first loss to wake them up. Playoffs are not the same.

I dont think there is a secret here...We all know that they are going to start Bombing away...If they keep falling, they'll keep bombing. If they start to fall short that is when Dwight will bomb in and will start to penetrate.
I think the main issue is how Dwight handles the game when the shots are falling and we want him to play more defense then offence.
This is where maturity comes to play.

That makes sense too but then again...sometimes Dwight gets too excited and he is the one who ends up in foul trouble. SVG has his work cut out for him to keep the balancing act in check with this young guys.
On the more positive aspect...SVG did great with WADE/ODOM in the playoffs.

Not sure about that... if the regular season mean something, it show that the Magic can win or lose with every time, home or away doesn't really matter.

I know you're going to say that playoffs is another story, and you're right, but Orlando is a strange team, and lose the home court advantage could be less tragic for them that for other teams.

If the Magic were to lose game 1 vs Toronto then all of the pressure will be on them to win game 2, whereas the Raptors will be more at ease knowing that they already have snagged home court advantage.
To begin with there is already more pressure on the Magic heading into the playoffs. They have home court advantage and they need to defend their home court.
In my opinion the best thing that can happen for the Magic would be if they absolutely pound the Raptors in game 1. That would give them a ton of confidence heading into game 2.
Let us not forget also that the Magic didn't win a game last year in the playoffs. I am sure the players remember that.
Yes it is true that when Nick Anderson bricked those free throws back in 1995 that ultimately cost the Magic the title. The momentum swung right over to the Rockets and they rode it all the way to the championship.

Absolutely I would go with Dwight.
If he feels involved in the game, his confidence will step up and I can see him taking every possible rebound.

If I'm right, offensive fouls will be the key... be ready to see a lot of Toronto players falling on the ground after little contact.

The point guard situation is what concerns me the most heading into the Toronto series. The Magic must do a good job of containing these guys. If they dont then they will probably need big games out of both Turkoglu and Lewis to counter this.

Somehow I get the feeling that when the Toronto series is over a lot of people are going to come in here and be ranting about how we still need a point guard and power forward to be successful in the playoffs.

Who's this guy Bob Vander Weide?
someone has to explain him whats the roll of a point guard, maybe then he will know that the only true point guard he has is Carlos Arroyo. I still think that Jameer is learning from Carlos but their is a lot more learning to do. Maybe been the son but having the money doesn't qualified him to make intelligent comments.

Let Dooling gk he plays crazy I don't care it's Svan Van Drunky's favorite.

Otis get your head out of your hole and keep JJ. Make Van Gundy play him.

They will most likely be here next season but i wouldn't mind if Cook, Nelson, Bogans and Dooling go.

Goodbye Pat!
