The Magic would be wise to trade some picks to get Milicic Darko ....

Compare our point guard, Jameer Nelson, to Steve Nash in their first 4 years as players. Jameer actually outproduced Nash in assists and steals. He saved his best for the playoffs this year, and Jameer might surprise fans with his performance next year. His confidence might pick up a beat now that it is a year removed from his father drowning.

Lee will fit in the team's style of play. I hope they can work in JJ Reddick into a 2nd rotation of speedy scorers at the end of each quarter just like Toronto did with Kapono.

So those your players that are going to put us over the top? A broke down wannabe PG and and undersized PF. I cant wait.
The selection of Lee only solidifies speculation that JJ is gone (Hopefully) Re-sign Dooling, Lee can play both guard spots and your set, Hedo is sliding down to play the 2 with Bogans/Lee backing him up so SG/PG are covered. They need another 6'10 guy that can actually rebound and a back up SF through FA or MLE or via trade. Maybe using a combination of Redick, Cook, and Cash or future picks. Otis will get it done. So far he's done a great job of rebuilding this team quickly.
Otis didn't want to spend about 200 thousand to get a second round pick so that the Magic could pickup either a pg or pf and you think that Otis is all that great. Yea right. And because they haven't used Redick he is useless as trade bait and that is Otis's fault. They should have traded Redick during the regular season, but since they didn't and then they drafted a sg he has made Redick worthless as trade bait. Now if they actually use Redick and I mean real minutes he will score. The games where he got 15 minutes or more he always averaged double digit points and yes the stats show that he kept his own against the other teams sg's. Then and only then will his trade value climb then trade him if you want.
I would love to see Redick come back and burn Otis and company after the way he has been treated by the Magic.

Another thought-
Lee will not be a bad player in the NBA. He might be a good role player. He might be a great role player. Either way, I feel like this was a good solid pick (which we haven't had in sometime).
I don't think Otis is the best GM. But he is good enough to put the right pieces in place. He addressed a need. Arthur has health issues. If we would have drafted Arthur and he not pan out. We would be complaining about Otis even more.
Gabriel didn't have a great track record with draft picks either.
You should have stayed for the entire draft when ESPN reported that in fact it turned out that there was no problem with Arthur's kidneys. He had several tests done, but the results were not released to the NBA for some reason. All of the tests showed that Arthur was healthy no problems.
Drafting Arthur in the second round would have made sense since a contract in the second round is not a lock like players in the first round. So drafting Arthur would not have cost the Magic all that much.

You must have forgot about Isaiah Thomas. He was maybe 6 ft. Who cares about height as long as you can play. Also, I think Lee can play some point for us. He reminds me of Dooling with more offensive game.

Im not a JJ fan either, but when the Magic had Steve Kerr, he rode the bench. He rode it harder than JJ does. You put JJ in the right system he can thrive. Steve Kerr was NEVER a great defender. But he could move without the ball and shoot lights out. JJ needs to get in the right system for his skills to come out. If he played with the Spurs or Lakers you'd see him making big buckets wondering why he coudnt do that with the Magic. Steve won rings with the Bulls and the Spurs.

Why is it that the only people in the world who think that J.J. is anything but a benchwarmer are the clueless fans who think he's the second coming of Larry Bird? NBA GM's will do anything to get a player if they think the guy can play, and please ask yourself, have you ever heard a GM or any other pundit say that Redick is the next big thing or just a player that they want on their team. The guy was a great player at Duke, but so have alot of other guys who played at Duke. No one is conspiring to hold J.J down and and keep him from being a solid player except J.J. It's not because he's white, or that he played at Duke, or the coach doesn't like him, or that he has a different hairstyle. It's just because the guy just plain is not good enough to help the team. Let it go folks, just let it go.

Half your team is latins and europeans ...

I love all the armchair coaching in these posts! How about this idea?
Get Tampa to set up a team called the Tampa Troopers, and ship in all the NBA white guys who haven't won a championship but would be the best hustle team on the east coast with an attitude. Hears my top 15...
Centers- Pau Gasol, Andrew Bogut, Chris Mihms
Power Forwards- Zaza Pachulia, Darko Millicic
Fowards- Andre Kirilenko, Mike Miller, Jason Kapono
Shooting Guards- JJ Reddick, Gordan Giricek,
Point Guards-- Jose Calderon, Carlos Arroyo, Steve Nash
Bench-- Joel Przybilla; Matt Harpring
Coach- Larry Brown; Assts- JV Gundy, Doug Moe
Ball Boys-- Pat Garrity, Zohan
No player on this team would be paid more than $1 million salaries, but the players would be paid out a share of a $5 million bonus based on points, rebounds, assists, and steals if they break 40 win, and an extra $10 million for 50 wins. And tickets would be no more than $35 a game, first come first served.
I bet this team could beat the current Magic team in a best of seven series, and score big on the Vegas line with blue collar Americans who buy lottery tickets!

Yeah I think so....How is Milsap undersized? he is 6'8-6'9 damn hmmm.. so is Brand,Boozer.West and Diaw among others. So how is he undersized. He would be a great fit. Then Shaun has big potential still and could return from the injury to back up Nelson and Lee very well!!

O.K..........So you're saying that the Magic's system is the problem, not J.J. You mean to tell me that the Magic should change their system to better meet the limitations of J.J Redick and to hell with Dwight, Hedo, Lewis and the rest of the team who just 52 games and got to the second round of the playoffs. I don't care if you put Redick on any team, until he can play defence and fit into their system, he'll aways be in the same position he's in now. I say again, Please tell me one person you have ever heard outside of Orlando, who thinks Redick is a player who deserves playing time for doing nothing. I'm not saying the guy isn't trying, or doesn't give it his all. I'm saying that no matter how much he's practiced, he still is just not good enough to make it at this point. I really hope he does someday. I have nothing against Redick, just like I feel no one in the Magic organization has nothing against him. It would do nothing but benefit the Magic if he was good enough. I'm still waiting for someone to tell me where all the uproar is over the rest of the nation for J.J. to play is. Please, someone tell me when our long national nightmare will end?

You're an idiot. His last two head coaches have been white, and neither played him. Get a life.

When you get right down to it, if you don't win, you don't survive in this league as a coach or GM. That means playing your best players and giving yourself the best chance to win. No team sits one of their best players for a whole year (so long as they aren't a discipline problem) if there's a chance they can help the team perform better. Therefore, it stands to reason that Redick is NOT one of the best players on the Magic, and therefore does NOT deserve playing time that should be going to guys who CAN help the team win.

My attitude comes down to this: SVG made the decision not to use Redick in any significant way this season...and took the team to 52 wins and the second round of the playoffs. I'll therefore trust him to decide who gives the team the best chance of winning, rather than all the armchair QBs who think Redick is the next big thing. If sitting Redick gets us 50-win seasons and playoff appearances, he can sit until hell freezes over.

I sometimes wonder if the Magic had been planning on trading him right after they picked him, but were unable to make a deal and were stuck with him. He has been just one of many wasted first-round picks in the history of this franchise.

The Magic keep JJ because he sells white people tickets, plain & simple.
I never hear the crowd yelling put in Bogans? They want to see JJ.... but Noooooooooo Mr.Brilliant 2 year NBA coach VanIdiot he dont care what the ticket payers want. And Otis Smith...he's so dumb he wears velcro sneakers.
JJ dont get no time cause those fools wanna prove a point. They "In Charge" dont matter what the ticket payers want, Period.

I went to WKU and watched Courtney Lee play. Most people haven't really seen him play since he attended a mid-major school. I love the pick at 22. You all will see what Courtney Lee is capable of. He will get the starting spot. It may not be right off the bat but he will prove himself. Hopefully they will dump Reddick. They could trade him for, well, I dont think anyone would want him. Anyway, Magic fans don't fret cuz Courtney Lee is a great pick and Jay Bilas loves him.

Nope, you're still an idiot. Winning sells tickets, plain and simple. They don't put JJ in because he doesn't help them win. Coaches can't make decisions based on the desires of a bunch of people who won't feel the heat when those decisions go poorly.

Again, 52 wins and the first playoff series win in 10 years makes SVG qualified to decide if and when to use Redick, not some fool who wants to paint everything as a racial issue just so he can see his favorite white player get time he hasn't earned.
