You cant compare this to the shaq deal, that was a blockbuster deal, this is a minor deal that takes away a stiff in cook, and a solid player in mo who were both struggling, replacing both of them with 6'8 high flying defensive minded player, the lakers just got more athletic and someone else to help kobe play defense, its a minor trade if it doesnt work its not gonna really hurt them.

Ariza's right. The plan to market Trevorburgers and Trevor Togs here in Orlando was going nowhere....

this trade is better for both sides because the magic need both of these players for bench scoring.

i live in cali and always been a fan of the lakers and love the magic and this trade can either be a bust or a great trade for la

This trade is another bust by the LA front office. We trade away 2 quality role players for someone that Orlando wouldnt even give a chance to. He avg 10 mins per game. Kobe keep them bags packed we are leaving LA.

Great trade for the Magic...they pick up a big guy who can get it done down low, while, at the same time, spread the floor for DH12...also, I feel like Evans is about equal to the skill set of Ariza, and he may even be a little more athletic...For LA, I don't really get it...They have too many players like Ariza i.e., Odom, Luke Walton, Sasha Vujacic, and Coby Karl...I think this may be a hint that some players, such as Kobe, are going to be moved and the team will be restructured into a sort of rebuild mode.

I think Vangundy is racist like Thomas, Ariza can play and he proved it. I hope Phill give him the opportunity.

your a little lost if you think cook is gonna help you down low, your getting a tall shooter, mo is a nice guy to have off the bench probably wont be able to do some of the things ariza can do cause hes smaller but great veteran player to have, and if mo was more athletic than ariza I doubt the lakers would have made this deal, and no the lakers dont have another player like ariza the guys you named dont play defense, the only perimeter defender they truly have is kobe, I think this deal works out for both teams.

Another thing I forgot to mention why in the hell would they rebuild if they already have a young team that is better than most people thought, the rebuilding started when shaq got traded.

Whether or not this trade works out remains to be seen. The last thing the Lakers needed was another player hoisting 3's, and not playing any defense, so in the end this trade could favor the Lakers...SLIGHTLY.

Actually this may be a win win situation for L.A.
If Ariza bring what the Lakers want from him which is defends great, good trade if at the end of the season it didn't work is cool.
He is a free agent and the Lakers got rid off Cook's & MO's contracts.

So either L.A. wins on this one.

Good trade for the Magic. They get more depth off the bench. Cook and Mo being able to shoot.
The Lakers though are taking a risk. Not a big one but Ariza brings in another slasher in there game instead of 3-pt shooting and good defense. So if Ariza can step up, it should help the Lakers a lot.

IF not anything than consider it as Magic did a favor to Ariza...He wasnt going to see any playing time with current rotation unless somebody is injured and even if Hedo/Lewis is injured....They would prefer somebody more of an offensive minded person to play...Ariza is great defensively and might even get much better...but thats it...Defensively...he is very much challenged offensively. And with no playing time, he wouldnt develop...This is why its a WIN WIN for both teams....If LA doesnt use him...then LA didnt do jack either. Question is, will they??

Why not a Win-win for Magic?
They 2 decent vets...role players...and they got bigger and more importanty huge depth....
The Big/Outside shooter/and defense....what did they exactly lose? Much less used Ariza..?
I say its a Win win for both teams regardless of how you look at it.
