Defense turns up the heat vs. Hawks

Miami - After locking down the Atlanta Hawks so thoroughly they couldn't score a basket for more than 13 minutes of Monday's first half, the Heat still was fighting for victory in the fourth quarter.

Jamaal Magloire is giving the Heat exactly what Jermaine O'neal would give them at this point. Marion for O'neal is a bad trade. If there is to be a trade, hopefully they focus on someone else, someone worthwhile. Brad Miller maybe, but maybe Riley can get Al Jefferson here, but Minnesota prob won't give him up since he replaces Garnett as their franchise player. But Jefferson would be perfect here with Wade, Chalmers, and Haslem. I would trade Marion and Beasley for Al Jefferson....

of course you would, who wouldnt. that would be the worst trade of all time. your giving up a 20 10 guy right now, who in a couple years could easily average 23 12. and you think the T wolves would trade 23 12 for a 30 yr old shawn marion who only fits in fast paced Offenses and a 1 dimensional scoring ball hog?

Beasley?? Are you crazy? We don't even have an inkling of how great this guy will be. You would never get what you are going to get from Beasley from a center unless it is Yao or Howard.

I agree! I don't like the old farts that are available right now! I would like to see a young up-side athletic type like maybe a YOUNG Amarie! Can't think of anyone that fits that bill at this time! Also, Wade does not want a real point guard so I think we are fine with MC!

Magloure played great I just don't like Yakuba starting at SF...Cook or Jones would do much better..Cook plays well as the 6th man and Jones is coming off injury so maybe i just answered my own question...still don't like him starting. I trust coach Spo though, he has his fingers on the pulse of this team..GO HEAT!

I love how they're playing. If Mags can continue to develop and be a force in the post then I think Marion becomes expendable. I like Marion's D ( you can put him on almost anyone) but he's stunting Beasley's development. These guys saying Beasly should be traded are absolutely insane. The kid has tremendous upside. When he puts on a little more muscle (maybe 5-10lbs) he'll be more effective in the post.....THEN really watch out for this guy.

I think a case is being made regarding the team's need for a big. The "center by commitee" approach is paying dividends, but let's see if it shows consistency.

Then again, this could be just a showcase to give other potential trade partners a peek at what they might be getting in return.

So far it is a fun season.

I've been saying it since the beginning of the season Wade and Chalmers are going to be great team mates. Chalmers proved he can put up 20 a night and Wade just makes 35 look so smooth. A combined 47 pts is not bad. The way the Heat dismantled the Hawks from the defense it just hit me.. their improved defense is the key we are #2 in the league on forced turn overs. The Heat held the Hawks to 27 first half points I believe Tony said that was the Hawks LOWEST scoring in their franchise history. A great team effort as always win or lose this team is improving in every way. Im really starting to believe in coach Spo.
