I can't help but consider today's guaranteed large contracts, having impacts on how many games are missed on an NBA roster. With millions on the line, caution is always considered. Also, when everything is guaranteed, people are thinking.

Can't help but think the number of player/games missed may be quite a bit higher in the past 10 or so years.

Either that, or the Pacers just pick players that breakdown, and it happens on a continual basis. Would hope people track this sort of thing, and hold those who have been doing all of the picking/trading accountable. One thing to have a miss from time to time, but we seem to have multiple players held out, each game, and for the past several years.

Marquis seems very SLOW this year and doesn't seem to want to drive to the basket like last year. He showed so much potential before his injury, busting in thru the paint and taking it to the hoop!! So far this year he just pulls up, passes the ball, and doesn't even challenge his defender. He was supposed to be one main reason for high hopes this year. I hope he shakes this off and returns to form.

If Daniels' knee injury hasn't recovered, the MRI will show this. It might surprise some of you, but it's sort of difficult to play NBA caliber basketball if you have ligament damage.

Unlike those ignoramuses that want to see conspiracies and sinister motives in everything, sometimes knee injuries just happen. It's not because the body is breaking down or the player doesn't want to play. Sometimes it just happens.

I'd rather he sit now then blow out his knee.

Daniels was hampered with knee problems before we traded for him.

Murphy was having trouble with his achilles tendong before we traded for him.

I think we may need new people in the front office. The doctor who is passing these guys on their physicals should be sent down the river.

This is unacceptable.

It's interesting to note once again that people are complaining about the stiffs that we got from Golden State in the Stephen Jackson trade. Given the realities of the salary cap and guaranteed contracts, if you are hellbent to run a guy off of your roster, you're simply not going to get equal talent in return. Remember the lesson of Troy Murphy when you're screaming for O'Neal and Tinsley to be moved.

So stop concentrating and overcoaching one player for each position. Take a lesson from the HS's.Always have 2 backups who have just as much time and money spent on them.
