Let's see - a player who would never attend Pete Newell's Big Man School 'cause he thought he knew it all, and never learned, consequently, to be anything like the defensive force and heart of a championship team his talent would have allowed him to be, hangs out with some good coaches a few seasons, learns a few things, and is now ready to match wits with the Popoviches and Jacksons and Rileys and van Gundys of the world by virtue of that hangin' out.
He's never been a head coach on any level, and was a member of teams that constantly disappointed at crucial times in crucial games through a lack of the kind of on-court
IQ possessed in abundance by the Knicks teams of the late sxties and early seventies.
Oh, yeah, by all means, an interview for Patrick. And then one for me, and for my grand-daughter, and my mailman, and Barbara Walters and Suzyn W and Spike Lee. Yeah.
I kinda like it....

hey buddy every player coach starts off everywhere .Most of the coaches in the league played ball in the nba so you dont know nothing. And pat was a assitant head coacj for 4 years and made yao ming and dwight howard who they are now hahaha look at their numbers before ewing got their and when he started working with them. He didnt dissappoint at all he was a warrior and he was a 1 man show and didnt have that other big allstar like every other team had and he still took up deep in the playoffs every year point proven . He is worth the job cause everyone starts off everywhere like you mention popvich the guy was a nba player hahaha same wit jackson and riley haha come on man all started off somewhere im done

Just because Ewing was a very good player doesn't mean he'll be just as good at coaching. All these people that want to bestow the headcoaching job on Ewing because of his past service to the team are misguided. Wake up people! This guy can't take to the court for you and produce 20 pts. and 10 reb. from the coaches box. Stop with the romanticized image of Ewing as this franchises' savior. This team needs a coach with a winning track record who can teach it fundementals, defense and toughness. Mike Fratello would be my choice.

Ewing needs to get an interview. Being who he was to the KNICK NATION alone should get him the interview. It does not mean he has to get the job but, just an interview.

Kazoo true Ewing can't take the court but he will be a fresh face that younger players still know. The new players don't even remember the Mile F teams that had a winning record. for that much when was the last time? I've been watching since 1978.
