All the talk over at ESPN is all about LeBron and the Cavs. Their game tonight against Boston basically just made the Magic seem totally insignificant according to ESPN.
Right now the Magic are a half game ahead of Boston and only 1 game behind Cleveland for the best record in the East and in the NBA.
Detroit is actually getting more respect than the Magic with the little winning streak they had recently.
The Magic have 8 games left in the month of January. Five of these games are against San Antonio, Lakers, Nuggets, Celtics, and Cavs. If they can win 2 or 3 against these elite teams and then win the other 3 games that would make them 5 and 3 or 6 and 2. Either scenario would be cool.
If they keep playing defense and maintain the energy level and focus they can beat anyone anytime anywhere.
lebron and cleveland at the top of thier games along with kobe and the lakers at the top of thiers are the two best teams in the league CLEARLY. but im startin to warm up to the magic they are tough, the 3rd best team in the league hands down.

Orlando, where amazing happens!

If you're not onboard, you're missing something special! This team in better than the Shaq/Penny team.

Go Magic!

According to ESPN, Magic are now #2 in the east. Cleveland's #1 and Boston's #3 at the moment.

The Magic need to continue to play together as a team. This team really has great chemistry! You can see it on the bench!

Hedo needs to stay put and Otis needs to re-sign him. He means so much to this team. I know he has his moments, but when he's clicking, we are hard to beat. He's our Scottie Pippin of our team (of course not as good as a defender), but he does everything else, assists, rebounds, hit's the three and gets to the line.

How about the half court alley-oop pass from Hedo to Dwight. Sick!

Let's go Magic!

When the Magic play the Pistons, and I am sure a lot of you here would agree, Dwight and Jameer need to both ignore Sheed and the on court theatrics. Just go out there and play the game and let him talk to himself.
When Dwight is focused and concentrating on playing aggressive defense he is a force than can not be reckoned with. He has done a better job this season for the most part of separating the Mr. Nice Guy routine and the fiery competitor he needs to be on the court.
For some reason when the Magic face Detroit he feels almost obligated to talk to Wallace. There is plenty of time to talk to him before or after the game.
If the Magic play against Detroit like they did these past two games against the Hawks they will have no trouble beating them. They just have to bring it for 48 minutes and not be chummy with any of the Piston players.
Jim - you are spot on - Dwight & Jameer need to save the "chumminess" until after the game and I do think they are maturing and realizing the need for TOTAL focus when on the court.

GREAT effort and victory tonight!!

Pistons beat the Nuggets in Denver tonight. Right now, until the Magic prove otherwise, this is now the team I would not want to face in the playoffs. That is why I hope the Magic can beat them in their last two regular season matchups.

The Magic need to play up tempp against them and push the ball. None of that halfcourt yawning boring slow it down crap Detroit likes to play.

If the Magic improve the tempo and remain focused for the full 48, without any chirping with Sheed, they can beat those guys.

Most times when they play Detroit they get down early, then they catch up, and then there is usually one 4 or 5 minute stretch toward the end of the game where they make 3 or 4 costly turnovers.

They need to protect the ball and do a better job of feeding Dwight in the post. Also Dwight needs to be alert to any approaching double teams.

In the next game against the Spurs this Sunday the Magic need to contain Tony Parker again the way they did in Orlando. Keep him out of the paint and force him into a jump shooter.

They also need to contain Ginobli. Also if they can run these guys that would be great too. They like the slow tempo just like Detroit. If they can get to 95 points and play solid defense they should be in good shape.

I disagree Jim. I think this is the team I want to play.
The Magic have to get over this hurdle and show that they have matured enough not to be afraid of any team. For the Magic to move on to the next level they have to face Detroit and get that monkey of their back.
However I agree that the way to beat them is in a up beat tempo.

That's why the last two reg season games they play against Detroit are important. If they were to lose to Detroit in both of these games and wind up going 0 and 3 against them in the reg season it could mess with their minds a little.

Beating these guys would do a lot for their self confidence. It would help go a long way to getting that yada yada yada off their back.

By the way you all were right and I was totally wrong about the Hawks owning the Magic. And like I said in the above comments, I think it's time for Detroit to lose our number and receive a Magic beatdown. What do you all have to say about that ? Can a brother get an amen on up in here ?!!
Amen to that and the Boston game as well, I have 13 days to find overpriced tickets, but it will be worth it!

YEP !
The way I see it is that if the Magic play at their best their is no team that can beat us.
Our DEFENCE HAS IMPROVED 100%.
The key in our team is without doubt Howard.
If he comes into the game and is intimated and fails to establish a presence the rest of our game plan falls apart.

This is it folks. You're looking at Orlandos (best shot at a) championship team right here. We need to get it done this year. The celtics are a year older, the cavs have only Lebron James and detroit is slipping. This is Orlandos year for the finals, and with this group playing like the well oiled machine they are we can beat anyone, anytime, anywhere. LETS GO MAGIC!!

For real to that. I checked on ticketmaster just out of curiousity. There is a place on there where you can get tickets resold by Magic fans. The prices were way out there. I bought mine way in advance. Got a couple right behind the basket.
