That article is right on the money.
What they are talking about is exactly what makes or breaks this MAGIC's character on how far they can go.
Throughout the season, we know we can pretty much beat anybody's and their momma's....
Question is the Attitude and Maturity come playoff time.
We'll see.
Yeah I'm arguing with some dude named Dave in the "Open Mike" section on the Sentinel Sports tab about this very thing. It's a good read for those casual fans who haven't watched very many Magic games. Most of us diehard fans have been talking about this very thing all year long.

Anyone besides me think that SVG is nothing but a whiney baby trying to get sympathy out of a team again like he tried in Miami then got fired.

Whine & Moan, Whine & Moan... what a loser!

SVG is a gem and Orlando is lucky to have him. Those if us that appreciate the NBA game all know that. Those that don't and only come in here to whine and instigate are wasting their time.

Thanks for the link. I especially liked the quote Otis made about Grant Hill: "We loved Grant Hill, and he was great for this franchise, but we thought it was best for Dwight as a leader if he weren't here," Smith says.

Speaks volumes to me.

Yeah the funny part about that is we offered him a contract to stay. Go figure...

Hey, I really appreciate how the Magic decide to tank the rest of the games so they can "coast" into the playoffs. Fans pay money to see these guys play, not sit on their arses. I guess the moral is, once NBA teams have a playoff spot locked down, there's no further reason to bother to pay to see a game, because all you'll get is scrub.
And don't even start with that lame BS, "But the players need their rest!" All season long, Van Gundy ridicled that excuse; now he's actually using it himself. Pretty original, Stan.
Great, NBA. Thanks, Magic. I'm glad you think so little of the fans.
if you havent noticed dumbass that they played the reserves and only 2 starters which would be skip n lee the coach is doin a smart thing playing the bench to get them into this. so if you need to see the boxsocres to see who play then do that.

Hey Brain put this quote in the Magic's locker room for some motivation! This was Ben Gordan talking about which team he rather play Boston or Orlando??''Obviously, we'd like the weaker opponent,'' Gordon said,''but we're going to go out and compete and have fun.''
It doesnt matter for them which team. It will be a sweep or 5 game series anyway.

Nah, SVG is a straight shooter. I usually agree with his complaints about the team. I prefer that than making excuses for himself or the players.

Theres only one good part of the whole NBA season thats the last 7 minutes of the final championship series game when it's close, thats when the players get down to it, other than that it really doesn't matter except to the players who get paid to show up and preform during the way to long season. Reminds me of easter a bunch of bunnies jumping around looking for a basket.

I said previously (previous blog) that the Magic would not achieve the #2 spot and that Detroit would be 8...and we would have Philly in the 1st round, so clev, bost, orl, atl, mia, phil, chic, det- was my order. So I was really for NOT resting our starters if some way we could get to #2 (though I did not pick it that way...hope?). Now that it isn't going to happen we should rest 'um. But I am a bit dissapointed that we could not get a win in the past few games. Not just dissapointed, but actually worried. I know we will not be NBA champions this year now...but we'll take a run at it. I know folks have cited Miami's losses on their last 3 games the year they won the championship but 2 were away and one of the losses Tim Donaghy was a ref!(so who knows?!)

That SI article hit the nail on the head.

Dwight's smiling and good nature remind me of another Hall of Famer, Magic Johnson. Only difference is when he was on the court Magic was a competitor, pure and simple. It's hard to imagine Dwight having that level of intensity. Even Lebron's Cavs with their goofing off, know when to get serious.

Dwight is still developing as a person and a player. He is only 23. Magic Johnson had the benefit of college basketball and the tournaments there. Dwight never had that experience. So basically he has been to the NBA playoff tournament twice. I'm betting that this year will really help Dwight develop as a player. Especially the second round.

Good point, another reason why some of these HS students would benefit from a year (or, God forbid, more) of college play.

Dwight seems like a good guy, I just hope he turns up the intensity starting next week.
