Grading how the Orlando Magic performed in the 2008-09 season

Orlando Magic Coach Stan Van Gundy pointed out during the NBA Finals that his team and the Los Angeles Lakers were subject to harsher "scrutiny" because they had made it to the big stage. Full Story

We must pull off the big trade this year. a KG or Pau Gasol type move. Hedo (sign and trade) and a point guard for Bosh would be a great start. Must keep Gortat and maybe bring back Mario Kasun.

Rashard's and Hedo's grade is way too high. I'd rate RL at a 7.5 and Hedo at 7.0. RL disappeared in too many games and still cant average 20 points. All of Hedo's numbers went down as well(except turnovers). Both of them are matchup problems for other teams but they both have a problem with consistency.

Brian Schmitz: A ZERO AGAIN as in 0.00000000000000

Longest living sportswriter to have 0.000000000 as his grade for decades. People who continue to hire him are BRAIN DEAD. Look for this honest comment to be quickly censored, just like the Iranian newspapers would do...

Pietrus just a 6.0 but AJ gets a 7.0? You must be joking.

I was disappointed with the endless injuries during the regular season, but Pietrus' contributions during the playoffs were absolutely crucial. He is a core player on this team.

Biggest bust? Reddick. He had a huge chance for redemption, but his shooting during the playoffs was way off mark.

Courtney Lee had a superb season, and was a huge reason for Orlando's success. I'd give him a 7.0, easy.

I'm very proud of this great team!

F !! The people of Orlando went all out to support the Magic. Today at the "Magic Appreciate their Fans" gathering downtown these guys were NO SHOWS.( other than Bo Laws who is the "team ambassador" and the Magic cheerleaders.)

This is PATHETIC!! There is no reason that all the players couldn't make it to the event to thank the city who is PAYING for their arena and support their organization.
Without the support of these fans, Magic players wouldn't have a job.

THIS is why I will NOT support the Magic or purchase anything where the proceeds will go to their organization.

I'd like to thank David Stern for putting the fix in that allowed the Magic to make the finals. Like making Garnett sit out the Magic/Celts series and having the 76'ers give the Magic their series too. Thanks Mr. Stern! Your ref's made sure that neither the 6'ers or Celts could win.
The Magic have lost so much money over the years and now that they have got the new arena being built they can continue to lose more money because they will get to have the All Star game each year plus other events that will draw millions more dollars than the Magic can.
Just think how great the wrestling matches will be and how the place will be filled and rockin' with the Barry Manilow concerts.
Big money is coming friends.... it just isn't gonna be generated by the Magic.
As far as the Magic thanking their fans.... I think the 3 fans that showed up were unhappy. Not that anyone cares, lol.
The Magic players are home in bed sleeping in with their honeys.
But October comes fast so fear not, "they will be back."

Real question is why are the Magic celebrating a losing season? Difference between a losing and winning franchise is that winning franchises don't accept mediocrity. I am happy that no players showed up to celebrate second place with all their ECOF championship shirts on.

How you give Pietrus such a low score? Are you kidding me? He was injured most of the regular season but in the boston and cleveland series he was an x factor... i guess they dont know 6 is lower than 7.5

Making the finals isnt exactly "mediocrity". Only 1 franchise is going to win it every year. So despite your negativity the Magic had much to celebrate this year. We came closer to winning a championship than ever in our short 20 year history. We beat the defending champs and the team with the best regular season record who had the league MVP. Dwight won DPOY. Our team accomplished all this despite losing their all star PG who without a doubt would have made a huge difference in the postseason had he not been hurt. Only one more hurdle for Dwight and Co. to climb. The team has improved every year since hes been here. I say going from getting bounced in 5 games in the semis to making the finals is a huge jump. I havent been this excited about our team in 15 years and I dont see it all falling apart like it did back then any time soon. We should make a good run at a title for the next 4 or 5 years minimum.
