Stan is the man, if he wins

Full story: Orlando Sentinel

Stan Van Gundy is a master motivator once again. The coach of the Magic pushed and prodded and goaded and goosed his team to a do-or-die victory Wednesday night.

Bianchi, what do you know about great coaching? You ripped Otis Smith for getting rid of Brian Hill. Remember?

Consider that last year the team was, relatively speaking, injury-free, and this year they've lost an All-Star point guard, they've had half their roster hobbled or missing significant time at various points this season. And SVG still took a team that was already one of the best in the East to a seven-win improvement over last season's record. The guy's done an outstanding coaching job.

I think the Magic will take one of two in Philly, and get home-court back for the remainder of the series.

Actually, all I saw was a drastically underacheiving Magic team eek out a win against a .500 team of misfits.
We should be crushing Philadelphia. They have absolutely no one who can match up on Dwight Howard, bad officiating or not. I understand the dynamic is different with a center, but has bad officiating ever taken Lebron or DWade out of a contest? True champions find ways to get it done no matter what.
Not that Hedo and Rashard have ever been the most intense competitors, but it seems like they slept thru games 1 and 2.
Courtney Lee is playing at the level we need everyone to play at. And he is very much alone there. The effort we gave last night won't get it done against Cleveland.
Bad officiating impacts Howard a lot more than Lebron James or Dwayne Wade. But then, Howard doesn't get the calls the way Lebron or Wade do. Lebron and Wade BENEFIT from bad officiating, because they get superstar treatment that Dwight doesn't really get. And he also plays center, so he has to deal with more fouls, anyhow.

I agree. I was at the game last night and it really was a terrible game. We should be killing Philly out of the gate and we are not. THis team lacks the intensity that it takes in the playoffs and I am concerned..I went from believing the Magic can win the east to not sure they will make it out of the first round...expecially the proformance last night after being embarrassed in game 1. This team lacks intensity.

Stans the man. The boys just need to grow up and deal with his coaching style. He has gotten teams to win every where he has been. Now shut up and play ball!

Wow! A semi-positive article. It's about time. Stan can clearly coach the game and his intensity is exactle what the Doctor ordered when trying to communicate with highly paid atheletes.

Stan will take us to the promise land, whether it's this year or next so buckle your seatbelt.

One request for you other fans on here: I like the talk of what our tema looks like with some other players on it, but it's not healthy conversation for our existing team. Stop making trades alreday for Boozer and others. Instead, let's talk about the killer line-up we have now, that's championship worthy.

GO MAGIC!

Well now what?

Stan's not winning!

Even the announcers in last night's game said the teams probably not even listening to Stan anymore!

Who do you think will go first?
