Van Gundy's style isn't Magic's issue

There are 50 comments on the Orlando Sentinel story from Apr 20, 2009, titled Van Gundy's style isn't Magic's issue. In it, Orlando Sentinel reports that:

I f the Magic need a little motivation to do their jobs - and apparently they do - this quote should be plastered on their bulletin board: "He's the master of panic, and when it gets time for his team to go into the postseason and do certain things, he will let them down." So said Shaquille O'Neal during a snit fit with ... was it Stan Van Gundy or ...

And if you watched him tripping over himself and getting run around and run through you would agree.
Unless you're one those white-fascist-fan-who-doesn't- know-anything-about-basketball fans.
Nah I was actually at the game, so I saw it all transpire infront of me; however, some things you can miss since the TV coverage is so awesome now-a-days.

But your right, he hasn't earned playoff time and SVG should go else where unless we need an offensive spark. Which sometimes can turn around and bite us cuz of his lack of defense.

Like C Lee said "it's just basketball" just play, hard, and let the chips fall. We have the talent to win it all. We just need to play like we want to.
We don't need urgancy, just intensity (see Noah from Chicago). If we keep the level high, the Magic will bring it home.

It was a MINUS 13 point differential when he was in the game - the worse of any player.
He may not be the only cause, but he was a HUGE FACTOR!
To make it worse he replaced our hottest player - CL.
ANYONE would have been better than JJ.
True, but no doubt CL really needed the rest. What did he play like 42 minutes or something? I think are biggest problem was not getting to Dwight in the clutch plays. But really we lost all momentum and drive. Once you let it slip it's hard to get it back

Limit the JJ slurs to One post only!
Thank you your devoted friend

The difference is that you were actually making racist posts, I was just calling a JJ supporter a racist. That's OK because if you're a JJ supporter you have to be either a racist or a stupid fan. JJ supporters can only fall into one (or both) of those categories.

True ... and putting JJ in's like putting a brick wall in front of momentum.

This really isn't what this team needs right now. We need more positive stories about them. Not downers about lockerroom friction. Gortat is nothin. He's not the star of the team, so that's why plays aren't made for him. He's a role player and role players play their roles. The stars are the playmakers. You don't like it Gortat, then go back to the wusses of european basketball.

VanGundy doesnt win games.... the players win games. Coaches can only lose games. Things like playing Hedo the Horrible instead of giving the time to JJ who when allowed more than a few minutes not only scores but plays the best defense for the Magic.
Things are going to change simply because Shaq is right. SVG is a lousy coach, always has been and the facts are he admits it himself.
I think more fans should stay home tomorrow. I noticed many empty seats last game but that doesnt mean they weren't sold out.
I just think that the fewer fans there are the more the Magic management will realize what a flash in the pan team this is and make some big changes next year. Repeat after me: LOCKOUT, LockOut!
I love Gortat. He already knows he's leaving Orlando and speaks his mind!
Now if SVG would decide to leave ....oh well that's not gonna happen, lol.
Next years team will have the 3 big money guys and Lord only knows who else. I hope Lee stays till he can opt out and go make some real money. Other than that I see the Magic dropping off again.
Well you're just a little ray of sunshine aren't you?

Nice, mr Whitley, you manipulate Gortat's interview, and then you criticize him. Simply unfair.
Take few words out of every bigger interview, and you will see miracles,'cool' way to make for a living.

And i completely agree with Doc Naismith on the JJ supporters. I'm sick of sitting at Amway Arena and hearing the ridiculous party atmosphere that transpires when Jerry Porter announces that JJ is subbing into the game. I guess those "fans" are fans of absolutely horrendous defense and sketchy shooting.

Great Idea FamyATTy! That would most likely mean 3 more and out then the guys can get away from SVG & Otis duh Smith and go relax and have a great vacation as they spend their millions of dollars!

The quicker the playoffs are over the better. We all really know that the Lakers will be champs...dont we?
If you dont know that then you live in the desert somewhere with no TV. The fun will be this summer when the Lockout talks begin lol.

I say win one then lose 3 then hit the trail for the beaches etc!
WaHooooo Vacation time Babeeeee!

that's the mentality of most of the black players...just offense no defense. You know how the coaches say " It's offense that sells the tickets ( get the players $11800000 contracts) but it's defense that wins the game".

"Those Fans" are the intelligent ones that buy the season tickets and keep the other players and the owners in the money!

They are the fans that want basketball to quit being the WWE in shorts and get back to what it really should be. A finesse game that doesnt allow dunks, fouls and mouthy players that run the teams.

Those Fans know that the league has crooked ref's , management that sets the rules so as the teams that bring in the TV money are the ones that win the games.
The Magic won 59 games and didnt impress any knowledgable pundits at all. Can you see the light yet? We want a league of Real Players. Not the 80% New Zealand Tattoed Players League that look like the wrestlers of the WWE.

That's why we cheer for JJ... we want REAL Basketball.

Possibly, but i'd like to see the Magic compete against the Lakers rather than a first round exit. Hell I would like them to atleast reach the Conference Finals vs who else but the Cavs.

SVG is a solid NBA coach, but not an outstanding coach. He lacks the ability to really motivate or fire up players especially in the fourth quarter. This is really needed with the Magic since GM Smith has put together a nice team but none of the starters have sufficient mental toughness to push the team. Saying that the Magic should get by Philadelphia but may not be able to beat Boston or Cleveland based on talent alone.
