Van Gundy's style isn't Magic's issue

I f the Magic need a little motivation to do their jobs - and apparently they do - this quote should be plastered on their bulletin board: "He's the master of panic, and when it gets time for his team to go into the postseason and do certain things, he will let them down." So said Shaquille O'Neal during a snit fit with ... was it Stan Van Gundy or ... Read more

"He's the master of panic, and when it gets time for his team to go into the postseason and do certain things, he will let them down."

At least he had some passion - unlike some of our star players. But I do think he did let the team down by subbing JJ for CL. It was the most critical element in the turnaround for Philly.

Maybe it is time to panic. Someone needs to be shaking their finger in the faces of some of these guys whether it comes from the coach or a "leader" on the floor (if there is one). One thing I did notice when Shaq made his whiney little comments about Stan was that the silence from the Magic players was deafening.

I had forgotten about that, you're right. At the time I looked at it as the players not buying into the drama and the never ending back and forth that would surely have come from Shaq, but maybe there's more to it? Only time will tell.. from my limited perspective I'd say that he doesn't panic, but takes every win seriously.

The Magic better blow the 76ers out this game! The entire team should practice nothing but rebounding and defense. And Dwight better get a bionic eye quick. And Jameer Nelson should be fine. They didnt say anything about being out for the POST season. lol, they just said season. Hurry back, Jameer!!!!

I saw Marcin Gortat at a bar downtown and he wouldn't give anyone the time of day. No pictures, no high fives, no responses to people saying hi. The guy's got a big ego for a back up player.

Yeah, you'd swear he was the second coming of Andrew Declercq.

Ummm, yeah the guy (SVG) has this team winning 50+ games in back to back seasons... The coach is the problem let me tell ya!!

Marcin just needs to shut up and play ball. He is a 2nd year player that is still learning the NBA way. Maybe he should focus on what he needs to do and what the coach needs to do. You're in the big leagues now Marcin, time to step up or go home.

LOL, you can't be serious? J.J. only played a couple of minutes and it was to give Lee a break. Sure SVG could have put in MP, but MP wasn't doing much better in the game.

This statement pretty much sums up that Shaq crap: "Dwight Howard's ascension just kills O'Neal, so his petty insecurity erupted". This is the last we should be talking about him

Gortat shouldn't be making any comments whatsoever! He had a couple of decent games when Howard missed a couple of games early in the season, big deal. For a guy his height he needs to learn how to be more aggessive and dunk the damn ball instead of laying it up there and hoping it falls in. I've seen it too many times from him this year, and for the love of god go after rebounds. I dont know who he thinks he is but players like him come and go, he's up there with Deqlerq, Darko, and Amaechi.

It was a MINUS 13 point differential when he was in the game - the worse of any player.

He may not be the only cause, but he was a HUGE FACTOR!

To make it worse he replaced our hottest player - CL.

ANYONE would have been better than JJ.

And if you watched him tripping over himself and getting run around and run through you would agree.

Unless you're one those white-fascist-fan-who-doesn't- know-anything-about-basketball fans.

VanGundy doesnt win games.... the players win games. Coaches can only lose games. Things like playing Hedo the Horrible instead of giving the time to JJ who when allowed more than a few minutes not only scores but plays the best defense for the Magic.

Things are going to change simply because Shaq is right. SVG is a lousy coach, always has been and the facts are he admits it himself.

I think more fans should stay home tomorrow. I noticed many empty seats last game but that doesnt mean they weren't sold out.

I just think that the fewer fans there are the more the Magic management will realize what a flash in the pan team this is and make some big changes next year. Repeat after me: LOCKOUT, LockOut!

I love Gortat. He already knows he's leaving Orlando and speaks his mind!

Now if SVG would decide to leave ....oh well that's not gonna happen, lol.
Next years team will have the 3 big money guys and Lord only knows who else. I hope Lee stays till he can opt out and go make some real money. Other than that I see the Magic dropping off again.
