Erin Lawless knocked down a shot. Then she knocked down her opponent, shoving the defender head-first into Conseco Fieldhouse's baseline seats.

of course its not going to be easy. they are no ladies, they are amazonian she-men. good luck.

"When I first got here I was all,'This is going to be easy,' "said former IUPUI guard Chris Scott, another practice squad regular. "It was a rude awakening when I walked in here."

The only thing more sexist than this article are the first two comments. The whole reason there's a WNBA is so that the NBA can protect itself from ever having a woman come into the league and, gasp, be able to play at that level. Make whatever pseudo-biological argument you wish, but there's no reason to think that there aren't plenty of women in the WNBA right now that could contribute to an NBA squad. The only thing that prevents it is fear.

well, fear, upper body strength, and an additional six inches in height. But let's just say it's fear. Mean old men!

Amare Stoudamire, Marcus Camby, Allen Iverson, and Tayshaun Prince all get on pretty well without a whole lot of upper body strength. After the end of the Chamberlain-Russell era, many of the game's best rebounders have hardly been the tallest players on the court, such as Barkley, Rodman, hell even Jason Kidd. In fact, a lower center of gravity and lots of lower body strength would be beneficial for rebounding and pick-setting. As for fear, I meant men afraid of women, not the other way around.

don't pretend even WNBA women are physically on par with the beasts in the NBA. that's ridiculous.

i reeeealllllly hate playing bball with women, because they have so many "no touch" zones they choose to enforce when convenient. they also get upset when you block their shot repeatedly, like you're picking on them.

i was a wrestler back in my day and my school forced our team to accept a female wrestler. it pretty much ruined it. you weren't supposed to overpower them while practicing. you also couldn't touch them near the crotch, buttocks, chest, or thighs. yeah, that works in wrestling. we starting skipping practice when we knew we were up to match the gals.

i'm not against women playing sports or anything like that, i just have a problem with women vs. men in semi to full contact sports. we're just made too differently.

softball, volleyball, etc on the other hand are great co-ed sports. tons of fun there.

ok, go ahead and fire away the "sexist/bigot" comments, i'm ready....

I agree wholeheartedly! Never understood women who wanted to be "one of the guys". I celebrate our differences! One is not superior to the other... just different.

No you aren't alone. When I was in High School there was a girl that wanted to play football, on the varsity squad. That in my opinon posed two huge problems. 1) She sucked, couldn't catch or block or run. That made our team look bad, and all of us (we girls and the guys) absoulutley hated that, but because we didn't offer an "equally fair substitute" they had to let her on the team. We were a laughing stock. 2) She was not very big, she was tall but pretty skinny. Now there is nothing wrong with being skinny, I'm rather small myself, but when you are out there with these guys that are 6'2" and weigh 250-300lbs why on God'd green earth would you WANT to be out there with them?? Pads or no pads, they sack you it's gonna hurt like h-e-l-l! I think it was all about trying to make a statement more than it was about trying to be equal. I appreciate your opinon, and thank you for saying it!

Since you expected it then here it is, although it your post is not as sexist as you think.
First you should play with real women basketball players. They don't whine when you get physical cause they expect it. They have also played ball with guys and I have never heard one of them complain like you say.
As for the female wrestler situation why did you run away from the problem rather than taking it up with the administration or coaches. Did the girl even agree with the special treatment or ask for it? There were no such rules for our HS women wrestlers.
(Also as to the later football girl, I don't understand why they couldn't keep her off the team)While I do admire her wanting to shove and be shoved into the dirt, if she wasn't a good player then she shouldn't have made the team.
Lastly, Why do you believe that WNBA players could not compete equally with NBA players? What makes you so sure? The women are not midgets and they are not weak, hence the bulging muscles. Have you ever seen a WNBA game? Just because it is uncommon for them to dunk does not mean they can't win.

Read this very slowly. They are not physically capable of playing anywhere near the level of the men. The worst bunch of NBA scrubs ever to suit up would destroy the best bunch of WNBA all stars there will ever be. Men are are bigger and stronger whether you like it or not. End of story.
