Timberwolves: Ricky Rubio isn't scoring, isn't worrying . . . but is he leaving?

There are 24 comments on the TwinCities.com story from Feb 9, 2011, titled Timberwolves: Ricky Rubio isn't scoring, isn't worrying . . . but is he leaving?. In it, TwinCities.com reports that:

The numbers don't lie. Ricky Rubio is struggling with his shot. The Spanish point guard is shooting just 20 percent from beyond the three-point line in the Euroleague this season, a stat that has concerned fans of the Minnesota Timberwolves, the team that used a first-round draft pick in 2009 on him.

He isn't leaving Spain unless the T-Pups can....

1. Trade him to a southern market team or
2. Trade him to a title contender.

I had no problem with keeping him over there to develop but he obviously is not. Trade him now while there is still interest/value.

Doesn't he realize that the higher you get drafted, the worse team that you're probably going to have to play for. Sometimes I feel that if he doesn't ever want to play for the Wolves, we should never trade him leaving him no choice but the Wolves or giving up his NBA dream. Why did he even enter the 2009 draft if he wasn't going to play that year?

Overrated, spoiled, "the world revolves around me" persona. Didn't do anything in Europe and he hopes to play among the best? Trade him now and let's watch him flame out in a big city market. Another Ndudi Ebi, Will Avery, if anything else. He might as well be French.

Tell that to Eli Manning and the Chargers!

One got what he wanted and won a SuperBowl and the other is still struggling to get there....guess who is who?

Just trade his him and get it over with... You never hear of him even following the Wolves or making a positive comment about the Wolves. He complains on how he just wants to win with no pressure.... Well earn it and prove you can play in the NBA before you pull a LBJ and have your choice of teams.

I dont know if its his personality or his "people" that work for him but he just sounds like a headcase already.

Rubio is smart! Until they get a better team president, a better coach, and better talent to have a chance to win who would want to play there? No one in their right mind likes losing and losing and losing and losing and losing.....

As T-Joke was to Childress, Rubio will be to Kahn.

Mr. Kahn, please trade our #1 pick and the cap space for Monta Ellis. Thank you.

Trade Rubio this off season while he still has perceived value. This guy had one good month in the Olympics 2 years ago and has not reached that level since.

I may be right and I maybe wrong. I'm thinking that if Kahn learned from his past mistake of publically saying that al was on the trade block because he didn't fit into the wolves future plans, therefore degrading his value, he is still keeping his hopes up on Rubio and still insisting that we plan to keep him so that other teams will actually make good offers and when Kahn gets a good offer, BAM the euro bust gets traded! but his play in the euroleague is not helping to raise his value either and in the end, we may get what he is actually worth..... Nothing...

Yeah when u get drafted in the top 5, u are the talent that is supposed to help make the team better if u didn't know.

Or we could trade him to an even worse And smaller market team? Cavaliers seem to be a perfect fit for him. Their owner is a cry baby, the fans are cry babies and he is a cry baby. Sad thing is, he probably wouldn't be able to win the starting job over mo Williams or sessions.

"Here, in Europe, we do everything as a team," said Pete Mickeal, a former University of Cincinnati standout and Rubio's teammate at Barcelona. "There (in the NBA), he is going have a lot of individual one-on-one workouts, and he is going to be great at that."

I loved that quote! So he can't shoot, AND he's not a team player, apparently. GREAT!

Anyone also notice his assists average conspicuously missing from the article, along with minutes played? Notice that their recent game they won over Roma was a 24 point laugher? He can't even get it done against THIS level of competition?! Kahn, your poker face needs work, as NO ONE perceives any value in this pompous little punk. Get rid of him and cut your losses. Some punk kid half a world away bad mouthing your team isn't helping to lure free agents, exactly.

Nope, keep his draft rights, and if he doesn't play here, he never plays in the NBA. Period. Whether he is good or worthless is immaterial.

Um, yeah, aside from that draft pick they wasted.

The way the Wolves draft, they are pretty much all wasted. They won't get any value for Rubio anyway. Don't let him play anywhere else, I don't think he is great, but he is better at handling the ball than Flynn is. We have scoring and rebounding, we need to get rid of turnovers and play some defense.
