Nash Leads Suns Past Kobe and Lakers

The Phoenix Suns won with their usual balance. Steve Nash had 25 points and 11 assists for his career-best 50th double-double, and the Suns beat the Los Angeles Lakers 115-107 Sunday to move 2 1/2 games ahead ... Full Story

You got that right, Will! Look at last season. Everyone figured we were dead after that 3-1 deficit, but we woke up and got back on track. I don't think the Lakers can overcome that this season, but it COULD happen. I'm sure they aren't going to lay down for us next game but hopefully being back in PHX will spark us to victory!

Well looks like thats it for my lakers but yeah its not officially over yet so we still have to wait, but if your suns do take them out I will congratulate you for sure, and I appreciate you aint dumping shit on us right now like some other suns fans are, I think that may just lead me to root for you guys incase it comes down to the pistons and suns.

Oh I know unbelievable whats going on with the warriors, I would love for them to get it done the problem is then I wouldnt have a great match in the finals if the warriors make it, I just dont want to feel sorry for a team and root for them out of pitty I want to see two great teams go at it, but I will say this if they go on to win a championship thats one hell of a story and certainly would have been worth watching but doubt thats gonna happen, I mean the mavs choke they are terrible with pressure, the suns are a different animal, they lost last season but had no amare.

Well, LA fans, it's been fun! With a name like the Lakers how could they NOT go fishing! LOL! Your team was simply overmatched this postseason and ol' Mitch needs to get Kobe some help next year if he wants to restore LA's luster! Good luck!

Well cyber as promised I congratulate you on your team going on to round 2, I dont know if im just being a sore loser but I dont think so cause the lakers have lost many times before in the playoffs and I know I dont just hate teams cause their good I hate them when I feel they talk shit, I did feel your suns got a bit cocky, amare got on my nerves in these playoffs, raja I still hated him from last year, nash doesnt seem to be so humble anymore as he was last year, they were trash talking so much its hard for me to not hate them, well hey thats nothing new thats what the playoffs are all about you start hating a team, only difference is we are use to hating teams we beat or that we can compete with but this team is just superior, all I can say is we will be back. I do want to say since your a suns fan if they go on to win a championship savor the moment cause you just dont know when you will be back, and once again congratulations they deserve it they whipped our ass enjoy your playoffs.

Thanx, Show, I appreciate your graciousness. I know LA won't be down for long...maybe they'll bring Jerry West back for some front office help. And I know how infrequent those Finals trips-let alone wins-are so if my boys can do it this year I will enjoy it to the fullest!

Hmmm...maybe the loss is still stinging, but I think I just lost some respect for you, Show. You sound a lot like the Kobe haters that you love to, well, hate. These Suns are not Ron Artest-types...the management here wisely doesn't consider for a moment the league's obvious thugs, except for a few unforseeable mistakes along the way. These are good, likable guys. It's all about perspective. I don't hate Kobe just because he complains on EVERY call against him, and non-call on others for that matter -- even the phantom ones (a few of which were blatant and caught on replays yesterday). I get a little annoyed at that moment, during that game, but I don't continue hating that player just because they were so whiney on that occasion that I witnessed -- and I don't spew out hatred that they are a whiney little bitch due to the one occasion that I saw. I'm smarter to know that the circumstances probably had a lot to do with their behavior...it's human nature. Obviously we identify more with our own teams and we like them more and we know about them as individuals and professionals more so than players in other towns. Would you warm up to Steve, Amare or Raja if the Lakers suddenly acquired them and they played for your team? Especially after you realize that they are good community contributors and humble professionals? It's the nature of pro team sports, man...it's not about the individuals, it's about the teams...this isn't golf. Peace.

Nah man your getting me all wrong, first of all congratulations to you, I did say to someoen else I might have looked too much into it since the playoffs are so emotional, but to me it seemed as if they were being cocky, I have not lost respect for your suns, I dont think I hate them I wasnt in the right state of mind when I wrote to cyber, I have lots of resepct for your suns and I only hate out of respect not like kobe haters hate kobe, im sorry if it sounds like im being a hater im not, your suns are much better than the lakers and I wouldnt be surpised if they win the championship, I have alot of respect for you and if you lost it for me thats too bad but I did mean to congratulate you as well, I might have looked too much into it but the medai always makes things seem worse I read alot of things about what the suns were saying and stuff so it does not help when your at the edge of elimination reading trash talking through the media, its just human nature like you said, I was being human last night.

All good, man. I can appreciate your emotion as a fellow fan. You're right the media controls a lot of our perspective, and it gets slanted locally wherever you are. Plus, if it's you're team that has to scratch and claw you feel like you have to scratch and claw with them. It was a fun rivalry to watch...I'm glad it was all clean and good spirited (for the most part) this time. We'll be right there with you again next year I'm sure. Cheers, bro.

Yeah good luck to your team, by the way im a very passionate fan and if a suns fan starts talking trash I usually answer in the same way I just get pumped up, its no disrespect to you its just how I am, im sure if you thought the lakers were behaving unproffesional and winning your team you would point it out and its understandable, but im just saying if you see me saying anything bad about the suns its because im answering to a suns fan that is talking trash about the lakers, but its just to annoy that fan it doesnt go out to all of you suns fans, I hope thats ok with you, I mean I would expect any laker fan that comes at you talking trash you gotta let them have it, you and me are reasonable fans we dont try to gloat and thats what I like about you and believe me I wouldnt gloat if I won, so I appreciate fans like you and cyber, with all that said enjoy the playoffs I know I will be watching, so you know if you see any unkind things I might have said about the suns just understand it was either me being emotional or other suns fans getting on my nerves and let me tell you there are alot of annoying suns fans no offense, but I know there are probably laker fans that annoy you as well thats just how it is.

Yeah, totally understandable. We got plenty of 'em. I was watching the local broadcast, but were they panning the audience on TNT when it accidentally caught the idiot giving Kobe the bird? Great example for Phx, bud. Yea, and then anybody with a primate brain and keyboard can post in these threads, but at least there are a few people who can hold down a meaningful conversation. About the cockiness...I don't know, maybe, or maybe it comes off that way since they are on the winning end and it's your team that's getting the losing end. I think if it were reversed and we were the ones losing the series then the Lakers would be pretty ecstatic, maybe even cocky in the eyes of Suns fans. But the fans doing the trash talking in here just do it because they're too ignorant to carry on a real conversation.

Yeah all teams have fans like that, they are usually the over optimistic fans that to them no matter what their team is the best and somtimes you need that kind of optimistic fan but usually they are the ones that cant hold a intelligent conversation about basketball, so how long have you been a suns fan, did you get to see the suns vs the bulls in the finals, i was old enough I just didnt watch it but it must have thorn your hearts if you did witness that, for me it was terrible watching the pistons totally destroy my lakers, I have never seen smothering defense like that before.

Well, I'm 32 and a Phx native, so I've been behind them ever since I can remember. That '93 Suns-Bulls finals totally transformed Phoenix. The entire city was on that bandwagon and it took us years to recover from the loss. I swear to this day that Paxson's foot was on the 3-point line on the last second game-winner, game 5 I think it was. It carves my heart out just thinking about it. Of course, the only previous time the Suns were that close was a classic series too (vs. Celts,'76), but that was before my time. We got to get this one...we want it so bad here.
