Let me debunk the expiring contract myth once and for all. Dallas had 9 expiring contracts and 1 option =10; Miami has 8 exp. cont. plus 4 options =12; San Antonio has 11 exp. contracts. I can go through the roster of every team in the NBA and they have expiring contracts on their roster. Expiring contracts are a dime a dozen and have no value to he majority of teams. The few teams that want them have over the hill players who are now useless or they want to cut their salaries. If you want to make a deal it is: what are you willing to give besides these expiring contracts. San Antonio has a worthless first round draft to them so to throw that in for Thomas is worth it. The Magics 1st round pick is more valuable than SA so for Otis to hesitate and not throw it on a player who may stay for 5 months is not being stupid or dumb. He chose the right path. There are probably 50-100 expiring contracts every year in the NBA. They are not as valuable as you think they are. This year there are an over abundance of expiring contracts in the league, to wait until this summer is a better option than doing it now. Thomas, Wilcox, Udonis, are good players that would fit the Magic, but only for the right price. If you cant get them now you have another chance at them this summer or there are going to be dozens of players available then for a good price. Otis is not stupid, he is playing his cards right.

Everyone get ready for a thrilling game tomorrow night in New Jersey. If you can't get excited about that game then you have got to check your pulse. Vince Carter Richard doesn't get any better than that foks!! Tune in and root for your Orlando Magic!! This team seems poised now to make a big run. The playoffs are drawing closer and it is obvious now that they are finally buying into SVG's preachings regarding defense.
I have been saying that all along on here too. This team will go far as long as they play consistent defense. Plain and simple. Throw the stats out the window and just play defense like you mean it. That is why I am now changing my tune regarding this team. I can see that they are showing signs of life on the defensive side of things. And when they do that, combined with their consistent offense, they can be virtually unbeatable. Think about it folks. If the Magic can consistently hold teams to say..around 90-95 points on most nights, then they will win atleast 70-75 percent of those games at the very minimum. You have to figure even on a bad night offensively they can still score 96 or 97 points. They have too many offensive weapons not to. It has been that way all along. But lets be thankful they are finally starting to believe it and are playing good solid defense.
