i just read on one of the orlando sports blogs that joey dorsey is 6ft 6?!! he is a power forward with limited skills. I was cool with him being picked in the 2nd round provided the magic acquired a pick, but now...
boris Diaw i think is 6'8 or 6'7 and he is pretty damn good what worries me of dorsey is his wieght he is bigger than brian cook and cook's 6'9 239 and dorsey is 6'6 265 i think was the measurement.

Brian Cook has no muscle on his frame...Dorsey is solid muscle and is a mack truck. There's no comparison.

Correction. the 2 reasons that JJ doesnt play in the NBA are

-He is a tweener. not a 2 and not a point. He can't guard opposing 2 guards or point guards

- He is on a team that creates mismatches by playing 2 SF and requires a bigger 2 guard who can help rebound and defend to protect Dwight from fouls on penetrating guards.

Battie a proven power forward?!? Since when did a 5-point/5-rebound guy become a proven power forward!

yup. I saw that as well.diaw at least when his conditioning is right, is very versatile and can hit free throws. Dorsey being 6'6 and 265 with no free throw skills, i'd have to pass unless he can be acquired mid to late 2nd round, otherwise forget it.

since he is the only established big on the roster not named dwight and this is the GM blowing smoke signals with hopes of not showing their hand before the draft. i suspect he will pick or trade for a good power forward if the price is right. only way he doesn't is if he is completely deluded. he has had his mistakes but i think he will get this right before it is over.

id agree that he has not much muscle but still im a little weary of blowing a 22 first round draft pick on a guy that projected to be in the second round.

i think we can do with out a non free throwing skills pf. like i said before we need to look at the combo guards and its been projected we either take courtney lee or brandon rush.

why i say a combo guard from what i know both these guys are defensive minded players which is lacked by our current pg one reason why we were beat by the pistons again. even when billups went on the Inactive list.

if we really want a pf in the draft start dangling a few players in front of the most needy teams and they'll most likely take the bait.

We're not using the #22 on Dorsey. We will obtain an early second rounder, more than likely, to take him or DJ White. The #22 is way too high for Dorsey though, I agree.

word on the street is that antwan jamison opted out of his contract and gilbert arenas already has we all know that antwan will not come for the mid level but otis we need a pf and to get a pf who also can score will be a great addition with howard lewis and jamison that is a tenacious triple treat my advice is do what you can to get jamison

Fran has been a solid EURO player since we drafted him. I read in SLAM about 3 yrs ago that he is a better shooying version of Pau. But I think we should trade JJ and Jameer and our pick(22) to move up or back for a 2nd rounder. Resign Dooling and draft Chalmers a bigger PG than Jameer. And just see how the Vasquez and Battie help.

Correction again Redick is not a tweener he is a SG and one of the best if allowed to play. When he played 15 minutes or more in a game this year he was in double digits and yes the opposing players did not out score him.
The stats support what I have just said.
What the Magic need is another big man who can play defense and a pg who can play defense. Right now the Magic are looking at several big men who can fit that slot and also looking to pick up a free agent pg who can relieve Nelson and actually play defense.
So Redick is just what the Magic need and will do well in the NBA when played. Why he doesn't play I don't know. John Denton who has watched Redick in many practices also said he couldn't figure out why Redick wasn't playing as well.
Hopefully this coming season will be his year to really play and show those who don't know him what he can do.
