I wonder if the Magic and Howard are downplaying the extent of his thumb injury. The rough defense the Pistons are throwing at Howard will only get worse now that he has a sore thumb. Look for them to hack him as often as possible in hopes of aggravating it.

Well, here's the scoop. Dave Cowens the Pistons coach was one of the quickest Centers ever.

He and Saunders know what all the NBA teams "should know" about Dwight. If he dont dunk he dont score!

He is no threat except right under the basket. Period. They took that away, pretty smart huh?

Their other defenders stick with the Magic 3 shooters who are definately soft and not much for driving to the basket, and even if they do they get beat up.

It's pretty simple. The Pistons are so far ahead of the Magic in brains (coaching) and all around skills it's scary.
The Magic may win a game but unless the Piston completely fall apart and have nervous breakdown...well... see ya next year Magic.

Hope the Motor City boys are not making it too tough on Dwight and crew. Thought a tougher game might make it easier for your team, Dwight can't shoot free throws anyway. Too many holes in the Magic's game to contend, but you guys are getting better. You'll win game 3, be happy.

#1- Nelson and the other magic players need to improve the entry passes to Howard cause too many times the pass is too close and the defender slaps it away easily for a Howard turnover that is not his fault. Arroyo is the best in the team at finding Howard at the right angles. #2- This are the play-offs and Detroit uses all the personal fouls possible to keep their agressive defense but the magic's players leave the court with 2 and 3 fouls each at the end of the game. All of them feel indispensable even when losing by 20. You cannot defend to the max while afraid of fouling out. Hit them hard and hit them often... you will see the pistons crying like babies.

I agree with Mr. Van Grumpy, we have to hit them hard, and press all court, our players are faster with the excemption of Mr. Hamilton, who should be guarded by Hedo.

LMAO.. What? Flip is a horrible coach. He cant win the big games. He couldnt do it in Min. and he cant do it now. You would think the Pistons have one 5 championships in a row. No.. they got one 4 years ago, and have been sent packing every year since. I dont understand the arrogence. Didnt Orlando beat you by about 25 pts in Detroit right after the all star break? Yea... they did. Look for a W tonight for the Magic.

Im not going to give Flip Saunders alot of hype because personally I think the Pistons energize themselves. They lead themselves wherever they go. Unfortunately the coach does not. Yes Orlando did beat the Pistons after the all-star break and yes a light DOES shine on a dogs behind somedays, but dont get all excited for your Magic to scrounge up a "W" in the Palace now unless it stands for "wee wee wee all the way home"

The bottom line is that the Magic could not hit their jump shots (or free throws). The Piston defense was obviously very good, but the Magic had a lot of good looks that they just couldn't knock down. Not sure why the 3's have gone cold in the playoffs, but if they don't heat those up again, this will be a very short series.

I don't like hearing that the Magic have to "get physical" with Detroit because that will take them out of their game. Its not who the Magic are. Call them soft as much as you want, but they won 52 games this year with their inside/outside style. If the jump shots aren't falling, they're in a lot of trouble. Make shots and this will be a competative series.

GM Smith's failure to upgrade the Magic's guard situation either thru the drafts or trades is highlighted greatly by the guard play of the Pistons. Unfortunately, Nelson is too short to handle the bigger guards of the Piston who have their way with him. The most that can be hoped for is for Nelson to score about half as many points as what the player he guards scores. Of course, the Magic's two guards are of no help on defense either. They would all be backups on other playoff teams. Turkoglu and Lewis are duplicate players and neither can play strong defense. Howard can't be the only Magic player really playing sifnificant defense. It takes a team. Wait till next year and maybe the GM will do more than just talk about the Magic playing defense. Overall some offensive improvement this year but the Magic are a long way from a championship team.

Probably the biggest Magic game in over a decade, and Tim Tebow is the cover story.Gee, the media around here isn't Gator biased at all.
