hope he doesn't become another Darko Milicic. I hope he can develop in another team. This is the right thing to do, look for other options and try to develop, in the bench is isn't going anywhere

Hey JJ, grow up you baby. Goes to show that the Magic should stay away from signing punks from Duke.

Good move. Seems as if OS is intent on ruining your career. SVG will do what he is told to do. This a bum outfit. Get out ASAP. Im hoping that you can hook up with Golden State or the Knicks.

FREE JJ!!!!!

To trade JJ would be a mistake. I'm glad to see Otis not making this happen. He does need to see what kind of player JJ can possibly become. And if I were JJ, I would wanna play too.

Do NOT trade away JJ unless it's for Kobe friggin Bryant! <--joke. Seriously ... hold on JJ. You're about to be a part of something VERY special in this league. Best center in league, new arena in 2010. Hang in there and give this young man some playing time Otis and SVG!

If two completely different coaches that have you at the end of their bench, I don't think it's the coaches JJ. Maybe you need to work on your defense and then talk smack. Well in your defense, this whole team needs to work on defense. But as usual, the Magic will probably let you go to another team. Look on the bright side, you could be at the end of the Heat's bench or the Timberwolves bench!
I don't think it's right for Van Gundy to say that you probably won't get playing time for the rest of the year.
It is kinda nice to see an athlete that wants to play, and not just receive a paycheck. Oh man, I think I'm feeling sorry for you JJ, since the beginning of my post. Hang in there JJ!

yeah mike, what a stupid pick. who would draft the all-time leading scorer (and arguably most clutch shooter) in the same conference that produced michael jordan, tim duncan, grant hill, sam cassell, james worthy, etc forever. not to mention he has a degree from one of the prestigious universities in america. oh yeah, and no coach has ever boasted anything but his exceptional leadership and work ethic. freakin punk.

I know it is tough for JJ. He has shown glimpses of being a solid NBA player in the minutes he's played. But he just does not fit into the mold of the team. We do need defense at the two guard spot on the floor and JJ just does not provide that at this point. There is alot of competition at his postition and I'm sure he'll get his chance next season when we're bound to lose at least two shooting guards in FA. He's probably never had to never had to compete for minutes on the floor. SO here's an idea JJ, stop whining and keep competing and show us you have more heart and character than you are showing now.

I can certainly understand J.J. Redick's frustration. The Magic players don't excel in defense anyway, why not have a pure shooter on the floor? I really thought he could rival Ray Allen in his accuracy, but he has never had a chance. You don't get better in the league by not playing. I feel that Otis Smith and Stan Van Gundy are making a huge mistake in letting this player not only sit on the bench but get depressed and unmotivated by it. Give him a chance! You used to let Pat Garrity play a lot of minutes in games, and he never player a second of defense in his life! And...he couldn't shoot consistently like J.J.!

How can JJ not be frustrated when he is being told that he is not getting any minutes because he does not fit with the teams chemistry? And then, as insult to injury, he is also being told to be patient because he is basically their forth option at guard and would possibly get playing time if other players leave due to free agency. Get it right Orlando, let this guy develop into the great player he is suppose to be. Let him go, trade him to a team that would give you back some assests that you could use to make the playoff run and get you over Pistons and or Celtics.

Let's see...hmmm, wasn't a 2 guard once known as a shooting (scoring) guard?
Oh wait a sec...we now go by the 1 thru 5 system...how quaint. A great basketball player cant play the 4 if he is a 3 or a 4 is lost as a 3 and a 2 cant play and score because he has to be a defensive stopper?
What Bull-sh-it!
It' all the "NBA old boys network" folks.
JJ sits because he is Good supposed to pay his dues to the LORDs of basketball. Other players at Orlando fear good young talent. They are all journeymen players and no way will they help JJ became the talent he is. They may lose their job. The defense BS is just that, BS. He's white, he's young and all the Smack talk from Otis or SVG wont change the fact that they have No Clue about talent. Look at the Lewis deal.
All of the current guards - "DEFENSIVE STALWARTS" now try to guard the other teams #2, but yet that #2 always seem to get their points anyway against the Magic.
So much for the Defense excuse.
Here's the deal. Otis has screwed up so much that he cant afford to trade JJ. Like I said before, JJ will come back and haunt the Magic, just like all the rest of the excellent players they have lost over the years. They are no where near winning a Title nor will they be in the future. Current management is not capable of producing a winner (dats da facts)
JJ should have been in Houston, Boston,Miami and yes even New York in the first place.

One more thing... JJ sold season tickets! They even had him on the phones soliciting business and personals to Buy The Tickets!
I wish all the poor fans that Bought The Tickets would tell the management that unless JJ plays they can have their damn tickets back!
It wont happen, but Geez that would be so Great!
JJ even brings opponents fans to the games. How many away games have the fans there started the "Play JJ" chant.

I think JJ should just keep working and shooting the lights out in practice. If Otis and SVG don't want to give the kid minutes, he will eventually get his chance elsewhere. That's why they have free agency. SVG would be wise to use him in close game situations where a valid 3-point threat is needed. He is a better shooter than anyone else on the team, including Turk and Lewis. If nothing else he draws the defense further away from the basket and keeps teams from double or triple teaming Dwight. Hang in there JJ.

Redick needs to just shut up. He needs to look himself in the mirror, get a reality check, and realize he is not a college stud anymore. He's running with the big boys now. He wants more playing time? All Redick has is a shot, an extremely deadly one, and for that, he will always have a spot on an NBA roster. But if he wants to get in the game, he better start playing more defense. Additionally, what people do not seem to realize is that even though his offensive game is very nice, his outside shot is all he's got. Whenever he is on a 2-on-1 fastbreak, instead of taking it to the hole, he'll pull up for a 16-foot jumper. Take it to the rack J.J., and be more aggressive. Quit being scared, shut up, and be grateful that you are making about $2 million a year you spoiled former college star.

Start playing more defense? How do you know he is not playing defense at the moment if he never had the chance to prove? Do you visit the Magic training regularly then? Quoting Van Gundy on the Sentinel "I'll be honest, watching him practice ... J.J.'s defending pretty well. So we'll have to see. That's been the big thing that should be a defensive rebounding spot for us."

So if he is a great shooter playing good d in practice, why play poor shooters and defenders like bogans, or Arroyo. I would even play JJ as PG, I mean, Arroyo got like 4 points and 3 assists yesterday, so did Nelson, he can't do worse than that!

Let's see, we don't defend at the 1 the 3 or the 4. Maybe we could fit JJ in at the 1! He is smart, taller and a better shooter vs. Nelson or Arroyo.

We All wish well for JJ and more playing time...but I HOPE he doesnt get traded anytime soon.

This Team is being spoiled because they have been healthy all year so far....Magic is an Injury or 2 away fom JJ getting enough minutes...

Just because we are healthy and have enough guards, JJ is struggling on that. We have almost 4 guys on free agency this offseason...2 of them are not coming back or being traded for a decent PF. Meaning...

Doors are going to open wide for JJ.[Look at Darko...He'd be having a time of his life next Howard right now, if he was still here] Samewhat scenario with JJ. Not only he can get minutes here but he will be used effectively with the way we are building towards HOWARD!!

Patience JJ..!!

Golden STATE...?? so that he can go there adn sit on the bench too...c'mon now...GS have enough guards too just like the Magic. JJ is in a future plan for the magic. Get the facts Joe. We are too deep in teh Guard area and we have been blowing a lot of leads lately. That is why its hard for JJ to get playing time. GET IT!!
