The Magic are awsome this year thanks to SVG and Dwight Howard!!! They are going to have it hard because they are one of the best teams in the league. I thought the Magic had bad calls from the refs during the Pacer game. Of course I could only listen to them on the radio because I have Bright House!!! I hope that gets resolved sometime soon! I still think the refs are crooks, there needs to be more investigation with these guys, it's like we all have forgotten about what transpired last year. Go Magic

Interesting...I was at the game and agree the refs did a pretty horrid job of calling it. I'm just curious as to how you make that decision listening over the radio?

The Magic are going to be forever haunted by excessive turnovers. Last year the coach answered with benching and exasperation. This year the coach will have a uplifting challenging plan. The atmosphere is so different.

The best way to stop turnovers is by breaking a few clipboards and benching the best shooting players to prove one's point.

The turnover numbers this year for Orlando are somewhat misleading - they are averaging 15.4 a game, which isn't a major improvement on the 17per game they committed last year, but when you factor in the higher tempo they are using this season, they are actually taking care of the ball far, far better.

Compare the ratio of field goal attempts or free throw attempts (a 'completed' possession) vs turnovers (a 'failed' possession) from this year vs last -

Season: FGA.- FTA.- TO
2006/7: 6090 - 2393 - 1392
2007/8: 1677 - 614 -- 323

This season, they are attempting 5.2 shots for each turnover, and 1.9 free throws per turnover. Last year, those figures were 4.38 shots per turnover, and 1.7 free throws per TO. So yes, the Magic are still committing plenty of turnovers, but relatively speaking they have made a vast improvement. They can still get way better, though - the Spurs attempt 6.8 shots for each turnover they commit.

The best way to cut down on turnovers is on the practice court, where real situations can be simulated. Can't the Magic put more than one guy on Howard during practice and let him figure out (with some help from the coaches, Ewing in particular)how to pass the ball. Of course with no one but Howard capable of spplying pressure, there's really no way to simulate what the other teams are doing to Howard. Dwight would have a ball if the other teams in the league had everybody shooting three's so that lanes were always open. We don't play poor defense, we simply can't be bothered playing defense, when shooting three's is so much safer than challenging their opponent. Come guys, buy some band aids!

Actually, Orlando is one of the best defensive teams in the NBA so far this year. The concede a lot of points simply because of the tempo of the games they play in, but they rank 3rd in the NBA in points allowed per 100 possessions, behind only Boston and Denver.

People always harp on Dwight's turnovers but how can a person possibly hang on to the ball when people are allowed to grab your arms? How do you fix that if refs arent going to call the fouls? These teams hardly ever go for the ball anymore, its ridiculous. They are lucky Dwight has the demeanor that he has, because a lot of people, myself included would have hurt one of these opposing players by now. Its hard for me to get too mad at Dwight because anyone but a superhero would have a hard time keeping the ball when guys are allowed to take shots at you and grab your arms away from the ball while hitting you in the head. I would have elbowed and charged over a few opponents by now.
