I grew up in Chicago, but lived in San Antonio most of the Jordan years. So I have to put in a word for David Robinson, one of the all-time class acts of the NBA.

Congrats, Admiral!

Michael vs. Magic. Michael would had taken magic into deep water and drowned him. Remember Magic never won any titles without Kareem. Mike never had a Kareem or center for that fact.

As good of news this is, I wasn't excited because I just assumed he was already in there...good job nonetheless.

Man, now I know why I have avoided basketball blogs. Half the comments are from a bunch of loser trolls, jealous fans of other teams, or scumbags attacking the man's personal life.

Congrats, MJ. Basketball just hasn't been the same without you.

Don't forget Johnson's rookie year when Kareem was injured in the finals and Johnson played center. They won without Kareem that day didn't they?

I am not a basketball fan, but have to admit that he is one of the greatest all-time athletes irregardless of sport! He should have been in the day he retired!

I've never been a big basketball fan but watching Jordan play was an honor. I'd go so far to say that he wasn't just the best basketball player ever, but maybe the best player in the history of team sports. I don't know that anyone controlled what his team did as well as MJ, both in his own accomplishments and how involved others. Do do it for as long as he did it and at a championship (not just winning level)level is something I doubt we'll ever come close to seeing again. That being said, he could use a speech writer..."seeing you guys makes me want to put on my shorts"????? That could have been mistaken for a quote from Elton John if you didn't read the rest of the story. Oh, well, he's still the best ever and we'll forgive that one miscue.

Do you all really think Jordan is a hall of fame caliber talent? Or is it just because everyone else in the league he played with was subpar? Would he have been as good without Tony Kukok, John Paxon, Bill Wennington, and Steve Kurr? I don't think so!!!! I just wish the Jazz would have one one championship over the bulls.

Jordan was a league of his own! He set the standard for what the game has become. Kobe, LeBron and others may be as talented and may even surpass the number of rings but because MJ took this game to a whole n'other level (even while playing with Bird and Magic) he will always be the measure for those of us fortunate enough to be a fan/witness to his greatness

obviously you never saw Bill Russell, more rings and basically a better man. Ask Jordan if he thinks he was better then Russell. And ESPN picking Jordan the greatest athlete over Babe Ruth among others as the greatest athlete of the 20th century. Yeah right guy.
