Inevitably, Bulls will have changes

Full story: Chicago Tribune

Doc Rivers and Vinny Del Negro are former teammates and current friends and when the two coaches passed in a hallway late Saturday, Rivers grabbed Del Negro in an embrace.

The smartest move is for the Bulls to bring everybody back to start the season, in order to have more tradable assets.

Unless, of course Gordon finds someone dumb enough to give him the crazy money he wants and the Bulls can sign and trade him this summer.

I can't imagine anyone wanting to pay Gordon crazy money and give up a real player in return, nevermind a star, but if Gordon and his geniuos agent can find a team willing to do so more power to them.

If they return as is, at the 2010 tradeline they will have major assests and flexibility, Gordon, HInrich, Deng, and Thomas as players, and Miller, the other Thomas, and James as expiring contracts.

More assets than any other team, likely enough to make 2 blockbuster trades, and end up with 2 of the stars of the 2010 free agent class.

Trade this summers 2 #1' to move up in the Draft and get Demar Derozen of USC, and explosive 2 guard with size and crazy upside. Love to see him next to Rose for the next decade.

Forget Ben Gordon. If Da Bulls could get a good post-up player in the off season, then Da Bulls could do better next season.

He is no MJ. and he is so inconsistent, no defense, and not a team player.

Let him go, trade him, anything.

Good job guys. Can't wait for next season. Hey cadman, what does being a Chicago team mean? The White Sox is a Chicago team...and they put it together for a championship. I just don't get the comment. Go Blackhawks!

I thoroughly enjoyed my Bulls during the playoffs! I would love to see these guys back together next year! Let's add another big man (Cartwright/Perdue/Grant style) and bolster the front court. We'll contend next year as well!

Bulls need a team with mental toughness down the stretch with set plays to run with less dribbling, less sloppy passing and better defensive coverage.

If Gordon really wants to be "somewhere where the organization is trying to win a championship" then he wouldn't be asking to be overpaid. It's that simple.

Hey Jerry West, you retard, when your teammates openly campaign for you, they must feel you are doing something right. But what would his teammaetes know? None of them have your level of experience and expertise. He's no MJ. Really? Why aren't you somewhere curing cancer with your obviously superior intellect?

I doubt BG will get the kind of coin he has turned down in the past.

In another sport, Manny Rameriz tried to pull that stuff and at least he has a couple rings to show off and he still got allot less than he wanted and ended up back with LA.

So as far as Gordon is concerned, I think either he or his agent over-values what he does.
I have not heard one analyst say anything other than the original offer BG got was better than what he'll end up with.

I don't know what to expect and will be not be surprised if he stays or if he goes. It would be great to get him for $6-8M a year and find a better starter and use him off the bench as a spark plug with Hinrich, Miller and whomever they get at PF.

The bulls need to see if a package of ty Thomas the 2 draft picks and a expiring contract of tim Thomas could land amare or bosh or David west... Then see if Portland would be willing to part with outlaw and bayless for kirk....then use your mid level exception to get a veteran guard to spell rose....

Let's talk about what is available. Jamal Crawford is a legitimate SG and next to Rose would score like Gordon. Furthermore, he is a good character guy.

Too bad Pax did not draft Brandon Roy and let Shannon Brown, Sefolosha and JR Smith go. But nothing can be done. Or did Gar Forman make those decisions?

I agree with Robert that trading up for DeMar DeRozan would be an exciting move because he has the insane athleticism: hops, lateral quickness etc. that just about all NBA SG studs possess. And he can shoot plus he has the nice presence/charisma thing going. Only question mark is his dribbling. He's fine right handed, but lefty currently he might as well not have a left hand. However, a lot of guys with his overall speed and talent work this out/improve same as they do with their D. If they trade their picks away to a financially struggling franchise, I hate to say this, But I might consider targeting David West. He's an All-Star big who can score in a variety of ways, and despite some of his bonehead and cheap shot plays, I think getting away from Byron Scott aka Pat Riley Jr. and Chris wannabee gangster Paul, he's a hard worker and could be a hard working teammate. John Salmons, Brad Miller, West could be the third and final taking advantage of a tanking economy small market team in dire straits. New Orleans will be in the red enxt year(luxury tax) if they don't exchange their only desirbale high paid player for young promising draft picks whom they have been good at appraising. If they get West they'll be a much improved team next year, and needing a good defensive assistant coach to round out the other chink in the bull's armour. It will be interesting to see if they keep Ben. He's really helped carry the Bulls to some unexpected heights like him or not, and I do believe in loyalty for that performance, but will see. Hope Pax(and Jerry R.) can do the right thing. Go Bulls.

I hope by "changes" they mean getting rid of Ben Gordon. He might put up some numbers in the PPG column, but how many shots does he have to take score that many points? The only consistent things about Gordon is his horrendous shot selection (i.e. dribbling around for 8 seconds before launching a fade away three-pointer), his selfishness, his inability to play defense and his excessive biceps.

Bad idea to trade Gordon. I agree with some of the others here, if Gordon wants money he'll probably finds his options limited and probably end up a crappy team where he becomes another nobody. His best choice is to stay with the Bulls, that being said. The Bulls definitely have a nice core they should keep, Rose is a given, Salmons is a must have, Hinrich played awesome defense in the series, and they definitely need Gordon for his explosive shooting ability (although his defense was pretty mediocre during the Celtics series. He got lost in so many screens guarding Ray Allen). So that being said, I would have to say trade Luol Deng (I like Lu but I'd rather give him, Miller, and a few others to acquire a post-up guy like Amare Stoudamire. Oh man imagine how good we would be? A consistent post up guy (Amare), a point guard who can drive (no offense Kirk) and pass (Derrick Rose-though need to work on his jumper a bit), a guy with explosive offensive ability, a good defender (Kirk), and other components Salmons, etc.....To think! The possibilities of Amare and Derrick. Man! They've got look out for a trade.
