Oh, I see what you did there - you made that comment under the username 'J Nelson'. Wow that's a hoot. Very funny AND original. You should try writing sitcoms with a comedy brain like that.
Yep you do a good job of writing sitcoms with your comments. You need to reduce the verbage.|R Lewis is in need of more coverage just like you do for me. Another word for verbage is replace the ve with ga. tee hee

It takes time to build a team and the Magic are a better team this year than last year. That is very obvious to just about anybody. They have the toughest opening schedule in the league and are now on their their third western road trip. Oh I forgot, noone and i mean noone predicted the Magic would do this well with this opening schedule. You guys are talking like the Magic just lost by 30 points to the Mavericks. All you jump off the band wagon morons you dont realize how good this team is and will be as they get older, mature, and more pieces are added. Lewis will find his niche as he learns to play with his new teamates and coach and visa/versa. Predicting a collapse (barring major injuries) is just moronic. What are going to say whent they beat Houston?

Mitchell "Nelson Ass Kisser" UK, FYI, I never liked Jameer Nelson as a PG SINCE LAST SEASON after that Boston 2OT loss. You can sanctify him all you want with those mini-factoids of yours but that won't change our opinions about him. Too bad you wasted all your time trying to impress us with your matter-of-fact attitude whereas it only shows what a dumb person you are. Jameer may be what he or you thinks he is, a PG, BUT he is not SMART. Everyone in this league knows that basketball I.Q. is the most important quality of a PG and Jameer has the I.Q. of a staple. Hence the fact that a midget like him tried shooting a ball over a goliath's head (Garnett). What an embarassment. I could say the same to you.

Don't get me wrong. I respect Jameer as a person but NOT as a player. If you don't want to hear from us, Nelson-haters, again, better hope that Otis would find a way to get rid of his contract.

I wouldn't blame Orlando Magic if they left this area. Look at this so called fan base. Its a long season, and part of that is wins and losses.

I see the Nelson haters are out again. The same tired nonsense when the Magic lose, wanting to pin the blame on one guy instead of recognising the flaws of each player, the coach and the team as a whole. Hereís a little wake up for those irrational few who want to blame Jameer whenever things go wrong.
1) He takes too many shots? Not really, when you consider that he ranks 16th in the NBA amongst point guards in shot attempts per game (but is 10th in shooting %).
2) He doesnít run the offense well enough? The Magicís offense has not been in question this season, and Nelson ranks 10th in the league in assists per 48 minutes. Sure, he still has turnover problems, but most point guards do. Heís 28th in the league in turnovers per 48, behind plenty of better pgs.
3) He doesnít play defense? I invite you to watch a Magic game - actually watch. Nelson is never going to be a great defensive player, but he is not a bad one. He generally picks the ball up inside the opponentís half, and pesters the opposing guard all the way. Added to that, Nelsonís rebounding this season has been outstanding - other than Jason Kidd and Baron Davis, he has been perhaps the best rebounding pg in the league. He has lapses, but there are few Magic players who donít. Arroyo is no better defender at the pojnt. Turkoglu and Lewis often play pretty awful defense. JJ Redick couldnít guard his own shadow.
Nelson is an ok player. He isnít elite, and it is more than likely he never will be. But he is a pretty good point guard in a league with very few great ones. I keep reading posts saying we should trade him and go after a Deron Williams or a Chris Paul, and I ask - with WHAT? Those two are the future of the point guard position. To get greatness, you have to give up something in return. New Orleans and Utah arenít going to give up those guys for Jameer Nelson and a bunch of role players and/or expiring deals.
The attitude around wanting to make a scapegoat out of a player when things donít go right is pathetic. Earlier on in the season Carlos Arroyo was being criticised on here when he struggled. Heís since found his form, so his boo-boys have disappeared. Then Rashard Lewis had a slump, so he got railed on. Now itís Nelson. I just canít understand the mentality around ripping into one guy when things donít go well. The Magic have a good roster - two good pgs in Nelson and Arroyo, two of the most versatile 6í10Ē guys in the league, the most dominant center in the entire game, and a solid collection of role players like Dooling, Bogans, Evans and Foyle. They are probably one good power forward away from being genuine contenders in the East. But because they have lost there way over the last 10 days, people want to switch bandwagons from the ĎMagic are greatí side to the ĎMagic suckí side. Absolutely ridiculous.
Nelson is a 5'10 point guard that can't play defense, dribbles too much and turns the ball over. He's definitely not worth the contract extension that we gave him. Add that to the growing list of bad moves by Otis recently.

Stop hating on nelson, the guy is still young and continues to improve. He is bar none the best PG on the roster. Dooling is great, but good coming off the bench, not as skilled a dribbler, but he has a good shooting touch, and brings good energy, though not consistent for a whole game, Arroyo would be good if he would stop showboating and passing the ball to fans in the stands, I have said this before and i will say it again, I will start rooting for Arroyo the day he stops showcasing his own mediocre talents. He's def. a skilled passer, but has only shown glimpses. Stop show boating arroyo and maybe you would get more playing time. So when you look at it according the 3 PG's strength and weaknesses, Nelson is the best man for the starting PG spot. So stop all the jealousy and hatred fake Magic fans, and cheer your team through thick and thin, not just when they are winning

Read my post again. I am not trying to paint Nelson as a great point guard. He is pretty good. He has consistency issues. But before you call someone else dumb, maybe you should reconsider your suggestion of sending Nelson to the Sixers for Andre Miller - you know, the same Andre Miller who is nearly 32, past his prime, can't play defense and who shoots more and gets less assists than Nelson.

If the Magic come up with an a deal to upgrade at the point, I am all for it. If they come up with a deal to upgrade at ANY position (bar center, which can't be done) I am all for it. But deals for great players in the NBA are hard to come by. Trading Nelson for a guy like Miller will not improve the team.

Simply put, making Nelson the scapegoat for every defeat is ridiculous. You may have issues with his play - most Magic fans do. He still turns the ball over too often. Occasionally he still looks for his own shot when he should be looking for teamates. He has plenty of areas he can improve, but he is young, and probably will get better. Look at Steve Nash - at the same age Nelson is now, he was averaging 8.6ppg and 4.9apg in Dallas. Chanucey Billups was averaging 12.5 and 5.5 in Minnesota. Now I am not saying that Nelson is going to turn into another Steve Nash or Chanucey Billups, but young players, particularly point guards, tend to get better with experience. There are far worse point guards in the NBA than Jameer Nelson. If Orlando can find a way to get a better one at no detriment to the rest of the team, great, but if not, Nelson does a pretty good job.

I'm a mavs fan but i agree with you completelly. Grant Hill oved something to Orlando. He was paid 100 mil to sit on his behind, and then once he got healthy he left to compete for a tittle. I hate to tell him but he would win a tittle in Orlando before he would do so in Phoenix. Suns can not beat San Antonio, Dallas, Utah Jazz, and probably not even the lakers(who have improved drastically) in a seven game series. Orlando should've kept Darko, because he may not be a great scorer but he can play defense. Oh and Rashard Lewis won the lotery. He got paid twice what his market value is. Let me name some of the players who make half of what he got. Carlos Boozer, Chauncey Billups, Ben Wallace, Manu Ginobili, Tony Parker etc etc. All of theese guys are much better players then Lewis. I mean look at Ginobili, and the year he is having.
Thanks for agreeing Don. I like the Mavs except for that idiot owner they have.

This is Don. Mark Cuban is good for basketball. I do believe that he cost Mavs the title against Heat when he wouldn't shut up and he frustrated the refs. It was obvious that refs were calling the game in Heat's favor after Cuban pissed them of. Can't really blame them. However sports would be better if more owners were like Mark. He really lives for that team. Cubs fans really wanted him to buy that team. I mean look at what he did with the Mavs. He may be arrogant, but he knows his stuff.
