Nowitski and Thorn and their hypocritcal comments. This game, on this continent (unlike the crappy European League Nowitski refers to) is all about the Money! Cuban has alot more money than George, so pay him you idiot and get Kidd.

I think that the deal could backfire for Dallas. Yes they are going to get the big 3 of Josh Howard, Dirk and Kidd. The Nets however are probably getting the better deal. I mean they have Devin Harris, Jerry Stackhouse and Vince carter that is a big potential problem , Devean George who will obviously be trying to prove something. Plus Kristic is coming back healthy I mean you have. Jason Collins is not that bad he can rebound. I smell upset in the east. too musch firepower if Lawrence Frank can make a game plan.

The irony is that the Shaq trade was aimed at the Spurs. The Suns are searching for an answer to Duncan. The Mavs were built to match against the Spurs and now they are giving up some edge there by sacrificing depth. The West was already wild, now it's going crazy. I don't think the Lakers are much to worry about this year.
You still have to go through San Antonio.

This is why lawyers are so loved. Dallas wants the deal, New Jersey Wants the deal, Jason Kidd wants the deal, Deven George wants the deal if his rights are protected. This deal is good for everybody involved yet it won't go through because a room full of lawyers can't work it out.

George has committed political suiside by not going along with this deal after making his trace comments earlier. Dallas now hates him, he certainly won't be a big hero in New Jersey and every other team in the league is going to see what a problem he can be. He may find that Bird Rights don't mean much when your conttract runs out and nobody wants you.

"This is a team sport, but a lot of this is about individuals in this league," Nowitzki said. "We all know that. When the Mavs play [the Lakers] it's Dirk against Kobe [Bryant]. Over here it's not promoted as a team sport as it is in Europe, where it's always five-on-five. I guess Devean is looking out for himself, and that's what you're used to over here."
Good grief Nowitzki. Do you meant to tell me you came to the United States to play without any regard for the money you would (and do) make here? Assuming you considered that, why is that okay okay but it's not appropriate for Devin George to look out for himself and exercise the elements of his own contract?
It appears that team-sportsmanship is important to you only in as much that the rules only apply to those you see as keeping you from a coveted 2008 NBA title (but not yourself).
If you ask me, it was presumptuous of Dallas to include George in any trade 'agreement' knowing George might, and in this case should, have the final say in the matter.
Ah well - if this falls through I'm sure Cuban will try and buy a title another way.

As a loyal Mavs fan I belive that the oppertunity to get a player as great as Jason Kidd is not something to let slip away. ALthough we lose a power house(Diop) a vet.(Stackhouse) and a future great(Harris). The Mavs should go through with the trade to become one of the new power house three somes in the league(Suns, Celtics)Mavs?

Most fans here in Dallas, that I talk with, don't like the idea of breaking up the team anyway. What would be do for a back up for Damp? What about Harris....we thought he was our future?
I don't know what some papers are talking about, to us George is a hero, and we hope he stays!

I don't know why all these fans are upset about the trade proposal. These core group of guys (in the Mavs) have been playing together for a while now and its the same old story: great regular season but can't win the big one. So why not shake things up a bit and go with this trade. If this trade doesn't happen, I guarantee Mavs ain't going nowhere.

NO, NOT DEJA VU ALL OVER AGAIN!!! The Dallas Mavericks don't need an experienced point guard... they need a scoring center. Was Cuban asleep when Memphis traded Gasol to the Lakers? Has he lost his mind because his team (virtually the same team) ONLY got to the NBA Finals two years ago and the same team ONLY won 67 games last year? Blame those two post-season disappointments on the coaches, not the players. I watched the Mavericks trade away Detlef Schrempf, Mark Aguirre, Dale Ellis, and half a dozen others who became stars for other teams the last time the front office got in the "win now" mode. It crippled the team for years. Don't do it again!

i think that kidd going to the mavericks will give the mavs a better chance of winning a title coz kidd is used in playing in the playoffs and in the finals while for the nets harris is a emerging guard in the league. with the stability of stackhouse, carter, jefferson i think they have a better chance!!!!
