Is Bosh worth giving up Beasley?

Full story: South Florida Sun-Sentinel

A weekly look at five talking points that have the league buzzing: 1. The Bosh endgame? It was, to say the least, a proactive move last week by Raptors General Manager Bryant Colangelo, floating the notion that he planned to offer an extension this summer to prized power forward Chris Bosh.

LOL! You're clueless.

Cities who covet the services of Bosh always seem to exaggerate him wanting to leave Toronto.

Putting aside the fact that the current CBA always favors the incumbent team keeping the free agent financially, all Bosh is looking for from Colangelo is a couple of solid moves to get the Raptors back on track and he's likely staying.

On the rare chance that Colangelo doesn't keep Bosh, there are probably 10 teams with better offers than Beasley. LOL!

Miami should take a page from the Lakers, in particular the development of the Shaq - Kobe tandem. They were together for more than 3 years, before they finally became champions. Just like Beasley Kobe in his first season(s) was coming off the bench, because the Lakers had Eddie Jones as shooting guard.

Kobe made some ill-advised shots in the play-offs and was not a good defender, but the Lakers recognised his talent and kept him. Kobe today is a whole different story. He is one of the best, if not the best in the league.

Miami needs to keep Beasley and let him reach his potential in Miami and not elsewhere. The Wade - Beasley tandem must be given a chance to bloom, before the trigger is pulled on a trade.

This will enable Miami to keep this team together as it will have money to offer players Haslem (2010), O'Neal (2010), Cook (2011) and Chalmers (2012) competitive contracts in order to prevent them from leaving.

Miami will also have money to sign some good free agents and if Beasley really become the special player we believe he can, he can get a max contract in 2012).

Why rush to get Bosh for max-money and sacrifice the quality of the role players, since you only will have money for scrubbs in 2010, 2011 and couple of years more. Keep Beasley and ensure you maintain quality players the next three years.

NO NO NOOOO!!! Bosh is a very very good player, may be a good compliment to Wade, but thats it. Beasley got enormous talent and could be a great great player in the very near future, he is only 20 yo.I am pretty confident that come next year with this experience he will give us an amazing 1-2 punch with DWade and a potent 1-2-3 with ONeal. Even if we have the same players next year we are going to be a much better team, a championship team.

Bosh will not be a good fit here.

He wants to be THE man in his team, and even now has problems fitting with Barnagni et al. This is not the Olympics, where everyone sacrificed (including Wade) to make it work.

Add the fact that he is a very small-framed power forward - he actually weights less than Beasley who is not even beginning to fill out - and we have a three playing four. By next season, Beasley will be in the 240-245 pound range, and will learn to work the low block, as well as facing the basket. He has the frame to play at 250, while Bosh's body is thin, not ideal to bang inside.

The Heat will keep Beasley because of the upside, while Bosh has already matured in his game.

All in all, just another attempt to stir controversy, which is how the new breed of reporters "make" the news, rather than just report it.

Colangelo fancies Beasley as a Small Forward? Really? I would love to know your source for that. You wouldn't have just made that up, right?

Seriously, who is your source? Who is he affiliated with?

jermaine o'neal's contract comes off the books for the heat in 2010. even if bosh is traded next season, he can still opt out in 2010. wouldn't miami be better served waiting one more year and building around a core of wade, bosh and beasley when they have cap room in 2010? does it really benefit them to pull the trigger and dump an asset like beasley when it weakens them in the long run just so they can get bosh one year early? beasley may never be a great first option. he might be a great second option. but he can be an incredible third option. you put those three guys together and you have a potentially dynastic core for five seasons. bosh and wade by themselves are impressive, but will they have that extra bit of firepower to eclipse the cavs?

Great Post TIVI.

Exactly my thoughts on this one.

Why give up Beasley if you can get Bosh a year later.

I know Beasley has not turned out to be the "Riley Type" player, but he is young and should be given a chance to develop. The Heat shouldnt give up on him yet. At least not while Bosh is still available the next year.

I think the point Ira is trying to make is that it would give a Wade-Bosh tandem a one year head start. But I agree with you, I wouldnt want to give up on Beasley yet.

No, this would be a bad trade Bosh has already maxed out his ability he's in his prime, all he is is a 20 - 10 guy that can't play defense and he's selfish he himself said it he wants to be the guy in his team if he went to Miami he would not be the guy.

Beasley is wasted on the Heat because of Spoelstra's incompetence. If he couldn't properly coach Beasley, why give him Bosh? It doesn't matter who you give the Heat, Spo will waste their talent. Riley has never replaced himself with a experienced coach-NEVER!! Avery Johnson should be coaching the Heat and they'd be winning big time. Spo is just totally incompetent. He hasn't developed any other player not even his No.1 drat pick. Spo is pathetic.

If Bosh were traded to the Heat, he wouldn't be able to crack the starting line-up. We've already got a power forward, and he has championship experience. Maybe we could spare 11 minutes a game for Bosh, but we'd have to keep him on a short leash.
