MIA again...
'tis why there are no takers for a max contract Jermaine should the Pacers try to move him...
but admit there are worse fates...
like out all year...
ask Portland.

Actually, I would take Portlands fate in a second! They have a young up and coming team that will only get better, and they have eliminated their "troublemakers". That's not even mentioning that they will develope without relying on Oden this year, and get him back next year.

This news cuts any excitement the fans had going into the season. Same old stuff for the Pacers.

Who is responsible for all the bad trades? Why would Indiana trade its #1 draft pick to Atlanta for Al Harrington, who is then traded with Jackson for a couple Golden State benchwarmers and their $100 million contracts? How can management make so many idiotic decisions? Larry Bird is too stupid for words. He has pea mush and oatmeal for a brain. Someone needs to get the word to Mr. Bird. RESIGN OR BE FIRED! It is beyond comprehension that nothing has been done to get rid of him.

Why? Its funny how some fans want to bash JO for making all that money and "not living up to it" and then at the same time want to downgrade the season because he is out. Kind of hypocritical wouldnt you say?

If he isnt that great of a player according to most of you then how is his injury going to hurt us that bad?

Folks injuries are part of professional sports. This just gives Diogu a chance to make a statement early in the season and I think he will take full advantage.

The JO injury doesnt make us much less of a competitive team and with our offense this year there is a much lesser focus on post players. Its about moving the ball up quickly in transition and getting open shots. If you didnt go to a preaseason game this year and you are trying to compare what you think will happen this year to what happened the past couple of years on the court, its night and day and there is no comparison. There is a new coach, new system. Everything is different. Dont give me the "same old players" crap either. These guys arent going anywhere for a long time, so if you want to sit around and keep whining for the next 5+ years go ahead. That sounds really healthy.

I'm tired of the injuries too, but I agree that injuries happen. It's not Jermaine's fault that him and Williams collided during a practice/scrimmage. He's played hurt plenty of times too.

May smell like the same 'ol #@$- but it's not.

Guys, are you really that unaware of what is going on.

Lets see, you have BOSTON, MIAMI, CLEVELAND, and WASHINGTON, CHICAGO, DETRIOT, TORONTO, and NETS in the playoffs.

Thats eight already. You guys tell me who is Indiana going to beat of those teams. If the NETs slip out, you also have Orlando with Dwight Howard, and lets see who else is before Indiana, and Milwaukee might be better then Indy, but its a toss up.

So, think about it, no way Indy makes it to the playoffs, and you still have to pay Murphy and Dunleavy. O'Neil could be traded at midseason, but who else would want any of your players.

Another thing is that it's always nick nack injuries with JO. Always the kind when he could come back here or there. Wierd.

I'll never forget sitting in the the RCA Dome during the NBA draft. The likes of Big Dog, Jason Kidd, Grant Hill and many others were in that draft and the Bulls coming off a championship drafted last. They chose Dickie Simpkins who didn't amount to much but I remember the jeering laughter of Pacer fans during the announced pick like now it was their turn to rule the NBA and the Bulls were history. The Pacers were good but it was sweet justice after that day when the rafters are still empty except for a couple ABA titles. Now Bird has a mess on his hands and makes Thomas in New York look smart.

The Pacers are a joke! You are what you are, and the Indiana Pacers are a bunch of injury-riddled, mediocre NBA players who will be 41-41 at best. Another Pacer year wasted on injuries, bad point-guards, an average coach, blunt-smoking thugs who are not only average as a team, but below average as role-models and community members! Aren't you excited for this year! LOL Thank God for the Colts! The Colts are the anti-pacer! I'm very thankful for that! GO COLTS

Hard to believe the NBA's ironman Jermaine O'Neal is gonna miss a game. Who'd a thunk it? The Pacers have more injuries than the injury list. Please fire the whole strength and training, and team doctor too. They are the NBA's worst by far. There is so much wrong with this team and no changes happening. Might as well of re hired Isaiah Thomas to coach or GM.

As a matter of fact, lets redshirt JO for the whole season and draft Eric Gordon next year :)

I'm copying and pasting this in from Indycornrows.com , just because good things need to be said about the Pacers. All you Pacer haters can read it or not. It's not a definitive analysis. It's not a prediction of the future. It's just a Pacers fan standing up, sticking with our team. If it's not your team, that's your problem.

With or without JO -- a rant--

Maybe we can pray, with some small measure of faith that our prayers will be answered, that the Pacers this year will be able to adjust smoothly to line-up changes that occur because Jermaine is either on the floor or stuck on the bench.

I would hope (I do hope!) that with the O'B style of motion offense, that JO will be just another cog in the machine. A very productive cog, yes. But with JO, or Ike, or Jeff, or David, Troy, etc...sorry Courtney, I guess you're the etc...or any combination of those big guys in the mix, this offense should theoretically (I hate that word) be able to produce points with a free-flowing, quick-hitting game.

As to the linked We Rite Good site, and their self-confessed admiration of John Hollinger of ESPN....pule-e-eze. Hollinger is an economics major, with concentration in statistics. "Looking backward"?? Boy howdy. He can't look any way else. He couldn't analyze the vibe in a locker room if he tripped over it.

The more cautious of the pundits are already beginning to back off their collective trashing of the Pacers' prospects...e.g. Marc Stein's ESPN power rankings raising the Pacers from 29th to 23rd this week, and their sudden discovery that maybe the preseason record DOES mean something.

STATISTICALLY, poorly-regarded teams that have done well in the preseason have gone on to make the playoffs. Well, dang, stick that in your database and crunch it, Hollinger.

OK. I feel better now.
