The heat has pretty much all its money tied on Wade and on Shaq who himself is busy and tied up doing TV shows and going undercover with the cops instead of working on his free throw terminal disease that is killing the team, big game, after big game.

As far as Kapono, well, with so little money, why spend money on a guy who is out there waiting to be fed balls so they can take long range shots and do no much else. Spend it on someone who can score inside and battle inside because the only guy that can do that, Haslem, is much undersized to do that and sending Wade in there so many times, well, there is just great possibility that he is going to get injured because he is the only one going inside to score. Walker goes inside but ends up dribbling the ball off his feet and he is so slow now that he should not be playing too many minutes.

And Shaq taking the ball inside can not even score sometimes when he is a foot from the basket because HE CAN NOT GET OFF THE FLOOR... except some games. It is hard to say what games but some games he is like Tarzan and then he becomes Jane. If he gets fouled he is going to miss most of the free throws.

They used to have Bruce Bowen who could defend and shoot 3's but then Reilly decided to give Anthony Carter the money instead. It was only because of Carter's neglect with his agent that the Heat got saved from Reilly's lack of good judgement when Carter forgot to do the paper work. They need players with basketball energy and able to do basketball plays instead of just a guy who is a 3 point shooter who last year in the playoffs, really, was invisible even in a team that was undermanned and needed ANYONE to step up.

Oh, and by the way it is a good thing to be commuted! That proves that my boss Cheney is the one that really runs the country and the one that has kidnapped the whole Justice Department.

You really think Shaq practicing free throws will improve his percentage? The guy has worked with numerous shooting coaches and still sucks at them. Some people got it and some dont. Practicing free throws at this stage in his career will not improve his average, just waste his time.

I dont think you can fix him this late in the game.

Lewis is officially going to Orlando ... Miami better start landing players or else every team in the division will be better than us. It's sad to see Miami not maintain its dominance from two years ago, but that's the price you pay when you committ most of the cap to two players.

Have to develop some young players. Let them play a little once in a while. The veterans this past year did not prove to be that infallible and certainly were made out of glass that got broken quite often. Reilly just will not play the young guys. In fact, it was a blessing of sorts that Van Gundy was around when Wade came in at the beginning because Van Gundy gave Wade a freer hand. If Shaq had made some free throws that first year he came in, they would have gone to the finals. Then the year they won, they play with Wade playing all minutes humanly possible and really as Dallas crapped out, well, what a great job Reilly did... PLEASE, it was all Dallas not being able to withstand the relentless attack by Wade and then a couple of the other players each night stepped up... IT WAS A MIRACLE THAT THEY WON AND THAT THEY HAD DALLAS AND NOWITZKY AS AN OPPONENT. I enjoyed every minute of the victory but in retrospect and seeing how much worse they got the next year then it is plain to see that it is a sign of a collapsing and aging team. AND NO NEWER YOUNGER PLAYERS AROUND. Every team in the league picked up a foreign player that could play a few minutes or more except Reilly. Well, this year he drafted someone but this is like a lot of years after everyone has been bringing players from Europe and Brazil.

And believe me that I am watching Alonzo Mourning and having gone through health problems myself, I can not believe that they are asking him to play so much. Of course, he is only a ghost of what he was. He has lost a lot and he runs grave danger compromising his immune system with the wear and tear of professional basketball. He is ancient if you add his years and his disease and he is playing with his heart because he just won't give up but he should walk away and enjoy the next life outside of basketball.

The heat are not doing anything so far this off season meaning they are not interested to win another championship. They are handcuffed with the luxury tax. Sorry heat fans it would be longer this time for another ring!

Kapono should know it's just business. The Heat should not have acted quickly on his contract and are keeping there options open.

Dr. Libby,

1. Shaq had 27 pts in that Game 7 vs the Pistons...you are crazy to blame him for the Heat losing that game. Shaq was scoring at will and SVG went away from it foolishly. I seem to recall Wade getting hurt in Game 5 and missing Game 6 and struggling to even move in Game 7. This was why Miami lost it had nothing to do with Shaq. E. Jones and D.Jones choked away that 7 pt 4th quarter lead with bricks and turnovers. You are out of your mind to blame Shaq. Shaq was the reason the Heat went from 42-59 wins that year. Miami never played as deep into the postseason till Shaq's 1st year.

2. Shaq does spend tons of time working on his free throws and nothing has worked. Wilt couldn't hit them either. Ben Wallace can't hit them. Shaq puts in the practice time on his FT's it's just a lost cause. This is you hating again and not knowing what you are talking about. Shaq puts in the effort cause all his past coaches from high school, college, to the pros have said he use to shoot hundreds and hundreds of them after practice. Shaq has put in more time on his free throws than you will ever know based on quotes from those who were a coach, teammate, or family member.

3. Miami doesn't even make the 06 Finals if not for Shaq's 28 pts...16 boards...5 blocks....on 12-14 shooting in Game 6 of the East Finals. Shaq brought the hammer down and won that series for Miami. Wade was sick that day and his shot was off and Shaq stepped up and lead Miami to their first ever Finals. Shaq played great that entire series and came through with a huge game to finally get this franchise over the hump. You are out of your mind to say he deserves no credit.

Im sorry, but some, make that most of you are some of the most fair weather band wagon fans I have ever seen. First, losing Kapono isnt a big deal. Everybody´s numbers are inflated when they play with Shaq and Wade, just ask Damon Jones. Second, Rashard Lewis wanted max money. We were never going to get him regardless. Now, one year removed from a championship, you all think we all of a sudden suck. You obviously know nothing about sports. I cant wait till we make it back to the Finals next year. Go eat picadillo and go watch the Marlins or something.

If JK was so good, how come it took him so long to get into the starting line up?

His shooting was sporadic following his hot start.

And he could not cover a corpse on defense.

Good loss. Who cares.

Churn the fat, old, slow and useless players. Keep the core. And replenish with younger, faster talent.

Capisce?

I bet, like many other former Heat players, that he is not as good without the Heat as he was with them!

Getting Lewis was a long shot, but Riley better be able to pull a rabbit out of his hat because everyone around the heat are getting better. The Heat will not win with this team even if they bring back Posey. Shaq is good for maybe one more year and then his contract will be a noose around the Heats neck and let's not forget Walker and his six year contract. By the time the Heat has money to spend Shaq will be gone.

We may be the only team without a foreign player on the roster. Pat Riley has serious problem and this needs to be corrected. In the NBA today the talent pool is so limited you can't focus only on American players and think you will compete. Do we even have a foreign scout who looks at these players?
The NBA draft is filled with HS or Frosh bust you need to look outside the US for some quality players if you want to make it.

Hello, Dave Hyde's Fan Club,

I don't dispute what you are saying. We all see it a bit different. I am very surprised that the free throws can not be improved. Wilt did improve going underhanded a style that Shaq says he is not adopted because he is part of the Hip Hop and too cool to use girls style, etc.,

I think you have a lot of number and stats in your argument that are probably correct and valid but from personal experience I can tell you that many people that have playe B-Ball around me in my years where able to improve free throws drastically. You can make big improvements if you are a terrible percentage shooter but if you are average to good, it is hard to become great.

Free throw shooting in basketball... I personally went from shooting like 40 percent to 80 plus percent just by practicing and doing a routine consistent similar to what you do when you putt in golf. This was some years ago when I played and it was never difficult to improve a lot if you are a 30 to 50 percentile shooter. I do not see Wallace and some of the other big men needing as much as Shaq needs it because he can get a free throw practically on every play of the game because of his size.

ANYWAY, you have a good argument and I continue finding it hard to believe that this man can not improve after so many years. I think he does not listen well or does not practice well. And his mind becomes very small when he lines up at the Free throw line and shrinks. One thing for sure, free throws will never be as hard as putting in golf and I play both sports a lot as well as baseball and tennis competitively and GOLF cleans everybody's clock for frustration city.
