"The Nuggets, looking to add some defense, took an interest in Balkman, who has proven himself a capable defender despite a lack of scoring and, occasionally, discipline and focus."

Yeah, GREAT pick Isiah. Little by little I'm getting more optimistic. Steph HAS to go next.

At least Balkman hustled and played hard all the time. He was never going to be a superstar, but he is a good role player.

dantoni should of gave balkman a chance, not saying hes on the same level but he has the same skill set as shawn marion. again not saying he'll be an all-star like marion but i would of gave him a chance. i would of tried my hardest to get rid of marbury, trade, buyout or i would gave the clippers randolph

Good move. The Knicks don't plan on playing defense, Balkman has no offensive game at all. He's weak, has not developed a body in two years. He'll be out of the league next year, if not this year. Please, if there is a God, make Marbury the next to leave!

Get rid of all of them including Dolan, Walsh, NO-D'Antoni. What a waste of a pick on Danilo. Only one summer league game and out already. Should have got someone ready to play. Remember you can't run and gun if you can't get a rebound or a defensive stop. Let's bring Oakley out of retirement.

Look at it this way, he lasted one summer league game longer than Frederic Weiss!

balkman has no jump shot. shooting the 3 is a must in d'antoni's system.
d'antoni already came out and questioned balkman's intelligence. d'antoni also said that isiah was totally wrong, when isiah claimed he had to take balkman in the first round, because phoenix would've selected balkman, and beat thomas to him.
add it up and balkman is a goner.
too bad also, because i rooted for the guy because he's from staten island

Allan,

This one really upsets me...
Balkman was good for 10 minutes of chaotic effort play each night. He would change the tempo of intensity the moment he steps on the floor... chasing balls, rebounding and causing defensive havoc... fans love this guy.
How can we just ship him away for nothing (considering that 2nd rounders can often just be bought)?

Very upsetting to the Knick fans that loved the Ewing, Oakly and "X" days of hard nosed team basketball.

to those knicks fans who are complaining about this trade..think about it..who you rather have balkman or lee? lee fits in this system a little better than balkman did. denver in the beginning wanted artest not for his scoring, but his defense. i think it was a good trade. now what they need to do is get rid of marty collins and a couple of players who seriously need to check the egos at the door and learn to play without wondering if they are going to be in the boxscore in newsday.hell, boston had some players that gave up all the stats and played their roles and look what happened to them..

Guess it's Q, Chandler and Gallo sharing time at small forward?

Lee, Zach and Jeffries at the 4?

everyone i see play b-ball doesn't have offensive games. you have to have specialists. rebounders, steals, hustle players, etc. every man on a squad can't just score. i thought knicks ball was supposed to be rugged hard-nose physical ball. i guess they still won't play any d this year either.

Yea I think this is brewing up a trade for teams interested in Randolph or Curry. Names that might be on their way here, Okafor, Marion and Artest. Let's see what Mr. Walsh does next. We've been rock bottom the only way to go now is up.

I can't believe we're still paying for the Marbury trade with the 1st round pick in 2010 (six years later????) Only in NY, and only Isiah could do that. Essentially we've lost several years of 1st round picks on Marbury and Curry alone.

I guess anytime the Knicks are getting rid of players who played on last season's team, it can't be too bad.
