bad deal for both teams, Ricky Davis has a track record of trying to take bad shots and not play defense. He just wants to run and gun, he doesnt understand a complex offense and will butt heads with Riley and Wade.

Im calling it now.

Rebulid through the draft?
Last I checked, the NBA was nothing like the NFL draft wise... There are very few picks that ever turn out to be franchise changing.
With Wade, C.Bulter(barely) and G.Rice(how long ago was that?), put out of this discussion... Can you name me another player thats ever been drafted by the Heat who has been relevant??
Go ahead... Im waiting.
Point is, draft picks are worth very little in the NBA... And even less when Riley wont even let them see the court.

Bad trade. Just like the Fins, the Heat need to rebuild through the draft. Including a first round pick was incredibly stupid.

Maybe this trade better positions the heat for next offseason's free agent's signings, but should have little impact for this season. I think this season is going to be bad. The heat have done nothing to improve themselves from last year's team. With all the new faces, the team is going to get off to a slow start without wade. it's going to take time for the team to gel. The other teams in the east have improved themselves and I don't see the heat going very far in the playoffs, if they get there at all. pat riley gets frustrated with the mediocre season and steps down as coach, turning it over to spoelstra.

My last name is Walker, I got that Heat jersey for Christmas, Now I can feel a little better about wearing it and thats its my own. But thanks Antoine for helping win a Championchip, you played a good role in that run and saved our butts a time or 2.

"Here was Riley, touting street free agents as solutions like a CEO assuring shareholders that the company will flourish because of the hunger of its unpaid interns."

Boneheads....

Look at our 2005-2006 team that won the title vs this year and compare...

Jwill in 2005 was unhealty but still played well enough for his spot
Jwill in 2007 is supposedly as healthy as then and in a contract yeear.

DWade then was an animal, now he will be coming of surgery, and he will be back early enough to shake off any rust prior to midseason and get his game to its prior level before last seasons debacle.

In 2005 we had Posey...a guy who could spot defend, but mostly got blown by and would hit three's here or there, but as him to put up more than 10pts a game every night? Not gonna happen vs 2007 Ricky Davis, who does hit threes, can score, is fast and athletic and can take it right to the rim.

Haslem then is a more wise Haslem now.

Shaq is another step slower than slow, but still more than capable of averaging 15pts a game and snagging 8 boards and 2 blocks.

Still go Zo, and quite frankly Blount will be better for the overall team playing at power forward in spots and backing up at center when needed....lest we forget the guy avgd 12 pts per game last season...not shabby.

So, overall, I feel our team now is as good as then...I dunno if a title will happen, but no one gave us a shot in 2005, so I can care less if we are given a shot now...

This is a GREAT DEAL !!!

Now get the Dolphins to appoint Riley as draft and trade special advisor and see if he can help our current joke-of-an-NFL team too!!!

Is that last part true about Ricky Davis shooting at his OWN basket in order to record a triple double???
I think if my player did that I would suspend him even if we were up by 30 points.
hey, he got the triple double. that's all that matters :)

rickey is decent enough on defense, he gets in the lane and gets a good amount of steals and then runs them out and finishes.. walker and doleac will be decents veteran for the young twolves. i think this trade helps both teams. we don't use draft picks well anyway.

so, I understand that the Riley/Walker conversation yesterday went something like this.......

Antoine, I have some great news for you and some not so great news....

whatever you say Coach, you know I'm a dedicated team player.

OK, the great news for you is you no longer have to worry about your weight, you no longer have to worry about your conditioning, you no longer have to worry about having Shaq and D-Wade getting all the offensive plays, you no longer have to worry about playing time and playing behind Udonis and you no longer have to worry about my wrath when you run down the court and throw up and immediate air-ball with 20 seconds left on the shot clock, nor when you come back from South Beach at 7 am with a 11pm curfew the night before.

WOW Coach, that is GREAT! I am so grateful that you appreciate me, and have had so much patience with me. You are the best.

I thought you would be happy about all of that.

That's great Coach, but what is the bad news you were talking about???

I have shipped your lazy, stupid ass to the frozen tundra in Minnesota, where in December, January and February you can go chase hibernating polar bears rather than the hot drunk chicks on South Beach, you can use your 20 pounds of excess weight to support your fat hibernating ass on the BENCH in Minnesota, where they are on a youth movement, you will get minimal playing minutes, be unable to kick in any of the bonus conditions in your contract and will soon be selling your championship ring on eBay. And to make you really happy, I wanted to remind you that the best steak in town is at Sizzler, not Prime 112, the best seafood in town is at Red Lobster, and not The Forge, the local liquor licenses end at 2 am, a night out on the town with the boys is bowling with a Bud Light, not Crystal Champagne, and dancing is country line dancing, not with naked strippers at Solid Gold, the women are always bundled up in warm clothes to avoid the frigid cold, and average in size like fat, pregnant walrus. Enjoy Minnesota. Goodbye and Good Luck.

<quoted text>
Butler is more than barely, he is an all-star and one of the best SF right now in the game.
As for others Sherman Douglas, Steve Smith, Kurt Thomas where better than average players. Sure not hall of fame but how the Heat has only been around not to long and how many hall of fame players came in the last 20 years? Most teams could say none
