The Magic are still soft. They have had that rap for a long-time and don't have the consistency, as demonstrated by winning big games, (see Celtics beat-down)to disprove the soft rap. Still greatly improved, but still soft, the killer instinct is not there yet. Yet.

Jim, just an FYI,
HOWARDS demeanor is just how he is.
He might get a little mean with a game face on in the playoffs maybe.
But this is how he is.
Additional to his play, his big smile and joking around is how he got those 3 Million votes.
So we might just have to live with it.
Honestly, he is not really a leader. JAMEER Is!
I could be wrong but this is what we have and we have to live with.
Besides, I really don't give a damn diggity.
He can joke around and laugh all he wants as long as he gets his double double and we keep winning. Just because we lost 2 games in a row doesn't mean its because he is joking around.
So lets just get used to it and move on.
Hopefully he'll change or maybe NOT.
in that case ill take a douchebag/jackass kobe bryant with 1,500,000 all star votes who is intense and can LEAD his team to a championship over a nonchalant/smiley/nice DWIGHT howard with 3,000,00 votes who couldnt lead a camel to water at seaworld.

I know he is a good player no doubt.
The usual plan that has worked all the time has been letting DWADE score 50pts and stop everybody else.
Letting Chalmers run around like Dwade and getting his own 20 is what killed us. Chalmers is not that good yet especially against us.
Chalmers IS good enough to put up 20 a night he is a very talented rookie and is going to be a very good team mate of Wade.

First of all Luke, I'm far from a bandwagon fan. I've rooted for this team through thick and thin. I watch every single game and go to about 12-15 games a year since the beginning. I'm not a bandwagon fan or a fair-weathered fan, like some on this blog!
This article was well written and on the money! The Magic need to get mentally tougher if they want to compete for a championship. Are the Magic the best team in the league? Nope, probably not, but I definitely believe they have as good a chance to win a championship as any other, if they play the way they are capable. Maybe not this year, maybe next or maybe in the new arena, but I believe it will happen!
They need to play physical, smart basketball for 48 minutes, not just try and turn it on in the last five minutes of the game (like the last two games). They aren't that good! They need to quit all the BS on the court and focus during the game. If they want to goof off after the game, that's fine, but for 48 minutes it should WAR!
There's no doubt that the team is a good defensive team and they've shown that they can stay in games with their defense. They are also doing a good job beating the teams they should beat! Remember the teams in past playing to the level of the opposing team? SVG has done a good job getting the team focused to win these games. This is great in the regular season for seeding purposes, but doesn't mean squat when you face the Pistons.
Now, can we beat a physical team like Boston or Detroit? Can we beat a team with more playoff experience like the Cavs in a 7 game series? Maybe not, but I'm willing to give it a try?
We might need a tough guy to come out and lay someone out, we might need a better backup point guard, but wtf, I'm going to root for the guys I got until something changes. Hey this beats the hell out of the 19 game losing streak the Magic had with TMac a few years ago when we were the laughing stock of the league!
Luke, you are the idiot that said after we lost the other night that our whole season is done, which was a totally absurd idiotic post, and now you want me to STFU? DUDE, F-U!
First of all, why would you react to my previous post about my anti-bandwagon sentiments if you said you are not one of them? Well? It seems to me, by the way you got ticked off, you are just the opposite of what you claim to be. If the phrase "shut up" is just so hard to take and it has offended you, then I apologize. Now that you said you are not a bandwagon fan, I won't be expecting any comments from you, right? Are we cool?

Dwight & Jameer are both hypocrites. Back when they were doing their successful west coast swing post-game interviews on ESPN they both said, "...this team has MATURED over the years." Mature my arse.

FYI, Arroyo and Nelson are the same-they're both inconsistent. I'd rather be on a Magic team led by Tony Battie than on a team co-captained by 2 young and immature players. If you can remember prior to his injury, Tony used to be this team's defensive anchor under B. Hill and Howard was his protege. So I'd love to see a leadership change on this team.

Hypocrite is a stronger word than you let on. You should try learning what it means before you use it in sentences...

hey STAN....ur co captains are less than 50 years old COMBINED...what the helllll do u expect...

and to the idiot that says lebron gets fouled more than dwight...ur stupid...

p.s.
I know everyone is on dwight about his "whining"...BUT when u get fouled HARD and dont get a call and u pick up ticky tack fake fouls...i'd whine my ass off too...

if dwight got the call everytime he got fouled he'd average 20+ freethrows a game...sometimes i hear the smack of a players hand on dwight, which alters his shot...and makes him miss...then he whines...well hell ya i'd whine too, especially when on the very next position for the opposition they call some phantom BS call...keep whinin dwight..more power too ya, just make sure and win also...and try not to get thrown out either lol maybe till the end of a win or loss...preferably win..

I have to agree with "shameful" here. We get out to the best start we've ever had and lose a few games and suddenly everyone wants to blow the team up and start over. LOL Get real. This team is very good. They had a long layoff. 5 days between games if you count the whole day Thursday. They will get it back together, theyre too good not to. Basketball is about rhythym, thats where they get the saying "when youre hot, youre hot" sometimes you can just throw anything up there and know its going in. If you take a break and dont shoot it for awhile, sometimes it takes a bit to get back into the swing of things. Well they lost a few games in a row. So what? No big deal. Lets see how they play the rest of the season. Its barely half over. We arent even past the all star break. good god people calm down. Theyve already accomplished more this year than ever before in terms of sweeping the Lakers and Spurs. Lets not turn our back on them so hastily. Lets give them the support they deserve.

wow did you really dedicate a whole paragraph to me? awesome...every player gets fouled it just so happens that the fouls dont always get called. and obviouslly dwight howard gets fouled the most because he is in the paint the most, what i was saying when driving to the paint lebron is fouled the most bar none...

ps
even if dwight shot 20+ free throws a game he would only make 12 so maybe he should start making his free throws and teams wouldnt fould so much

how many crab dribbles does lebron get a game?

dwight is in no way a benefactor of refs calls in any repsect.

lebron gets shady NBA leeway like all the other prescribed stars.

Another loss tonight folks. That will make it 3 losses in a row as I predicted before it all started.

Tonight will make it the trifecta. Tonight will make it the trifecta. And I called it folks. I called these losses.

This is where Pietrus being out hurt in at least the Miami game. In both losses, one player on the opposing bench made all the difference. Whether Pietrus starts and C. Lee defends off the bench...or vice versa, we need him back.
