if howard got a call for evertime someone actually fouled him the other team wouldn't have 5 players left by the end of the game. Every time he touches the ball they grab and hang on him, and a call is rarely made. Meanwhile if someone touches lebron or kobes jersey they get the call. They just need to call it the same for everybody whether your a career twelfth man or the next michael jordan. Don't just make the call for certain players.

really? lebron gets every call? you can say d wade and kobe get all the calls, but its always the bigger stronger players who dont get the calls, lebron gets beat up driving to the paint than any other player in the league. BAR NONE, im not doubting that dwight howard gets fouled alot but i dont watch all of there games, ive seen every game for cleveland this year and LBJ should be shooting 15 freethrows per game MINIMUM.

There ya go folks the ANSWER as to why this team will not win a championship this year -- the LACK OF MATURITY from the 2 co-captains. Kudos to Stan Van Gundy for putting this to rest once and for all and to silence all the Magic bandwagoneers for the rest of the season.

Stan has every right to scream at his players. This is why I love him so much because he shows extreme passion for the game night in and night out.

Folks the Magic played well until they reached the so called "top of the mountain". They got to be the best in the NBA for 24 hours.

But once they got there something terrible happened. They had 4 days off in between games.

It was during this time that they were hearing all of the positive things being said and written about them in the press.

Then Dwight Howard was invited to Washington for the Presidential Innauguration. On top of that he became the first player in NBA history to garnish over 3 million votes for the All Star game. Jameer Nelson also heard all the positive comments as well with his improved play of late.

So the Magic reached the pinnacle. And then they relaxed and rested on their laurels while their two leaders, perhaps filled to the brim with over confidence, watched helplessly as they all slipped and fell.

Now the only question that remains is will their two leaders show the proper maturity that is necessary to help get them all back to the top of the mountain ?

SVG called it. This team lackes it. Thats why Otis should add a 4 with some playoff experiance and to keep the kids from getting to full of themselves. I have no doubt they will turn it around. Its a whole different story pursuing the top as compared to being on top.

I can understand why Van Gundy says the Magic need to grow up but I was thinking a little larger:
The Magic need to move to Albuquerque.

No, I would prefer the Magic stay here, and YOU move to Albuquerque.

Why the hell would you even SAY something like that? If you dont care for basketball or the Magic, why even read the article or post here?

Perhaps the "Rasslin" or the Monster Truck rally held here on Friday is more your speed.

Just STFU if you dont care for the game or the team.

When I watch the elite teams I see intensity!! Kobe, LeBron, KG, Rasheed, Billips, Amarie, Bosh.... When I see the Magic, I see smiles, DH blowing on his left hand, Hedo wincing, only on the defensive end? I only see intensity wth the Magic wSVG. There are only 2 ways to get it.
1. Lose enough 1st round and 2nd round series 2. Grow up, and figure it out The good news is this is all the Magic lack. Weather or not they get it this year is up to Jameer and Dwight. period

You guys called it. Everyone thus far has made great posts about what our guys need to do. Dwight plays around waaaay to much and doesn't have a mean bone in his body. He and the rest of the team defiantly need to grow up in that way: toughness/maturity.

Sound familiar - Last year:

Magic GM backs Van Gundy calling out Howard When Orlando Magic General Manager Otis Smith hired Stan Van Gundy to coach the Magic, he liked the fact Van Gundy demanded accountability from his players be they the best player or the 15th man.

So Smith said he had no problems with Van Gundy publicly calling out all-star center Dwight Howard after Monday night's game against the Cleveland Cavaliers. Van Gundy said Howard was paying too much attention to offense and not enough to defense and rebounding.

"I don't think the stats lie," Smith said. "When Dwight's dominating defensively, we're a better team.(Van Gundy) probably could have called out three or four other guys. I'm a Stan fan. I don't think Stan did anything wrong."

BB - you hit the nail on the head - a lot of people on this forum have been seeing this for too long - hopefully the coaching staff will get it into the players heads that you can't f*c* around and win against the better teams in this league.

stan is a hardcore coach who takes no sh!t,which is good, but when a coach yells at his team,it throws them off their focus, and then they end up losing
