Seeing Shaq match Howard's phsyical presence was encouraging. Last year the Cavs were undermined by Big Z's timidity in the paint and Ben Wallace's inconsistencies on both ends of the floor. Shaq can't deliver a lot of minutes, but if he can beat up Dwight Howard for half the game that will give the Cavs a lot of breathing room.
The big concern is Delonte West. When Danny Gibson and Mo Williams fell apart it was Delonte who dug deep and went to work. He's not the most talented player in the game but he played with the heart of a champion. Whether his legal issues are the result of mental illness or just stupidity is up for somebody else to decide but either way it looks like Delonte won't be there com playoff time. Hopefully Danny Ferry can work some magic and find an alternative. Leon Powe might be able to come back from his knee surgery by then, but even if he does I wouldn't count on him being in top form.
