To me, the Howard play was much more definitive. I saw the replay of the Gasol play, and I wasn't even sure if he touched the rim, but if he did it was merely a glancing blow & had no direct effect on Lee's shot. Quite simply, Lee missed the layup, not because of any interference from Gasol.
There were other calls in that game against both teams that were questionable, as well. I can recall at least a couple of instances of "phantom" fouls, where it appeared that the player whistled for a violation did not even make contact with the offensive player. I'm a Lakers fan, but I think that Kobe was the beneficiary of a few of those calls.
