Shaquille O'Neal says he hopes to take over management of the O...

Full story: Orlando Sentinel

Center Shaquille O'Neal was traded from the Miami Heat to the Phoenix Suns last month, but the Orlando Magic -- the team with whom he started his high-profile career -- never seem far from his thoughts.

You've got to be kidding. I wouldn't hire Shaq for Sheriff or GM. This shows how serious Shaq is/was about being Sheriff. I don't think he would like a 9-5 job with mortal pay. He yelled, "Pay me!" at Lakers owner Jerry Buss when he was making $20+ millon a year. His conditioning is indicative of his work ethic.
As far as being GM goes, I suppose "his" trade of Eddie Jones for Glenn Rice, while with the Lakers, was a winner. He is the biggest and strongest, not the smartest or hardest working. Part owner or some sort of VP might be more his thang (ala Magic Johnson).

GM? Don't you need to be smart to have that job? Oh, yeah. I forgot about Otis Smith and John Gabrial.

Seriously, Shaq is about as dumb a human being as you get. I laugh when I hear that idiot try and speak intelligently. The last thing Orlando needs is a guy with an IQ right around 70 running this team.
All he has ever done is screw the team anyway and I can't beleive anyone would want to give that fat load a job here. Let him go be the GM in LA. They would laugh.

Shaq needs to move out of orlando and never come back. He is not wanted here. He would destroy the current team. He can go to New York city and be a rapper and than run for sheriff there. Shaq stay out of Orlando.

Don't forget John Weisbrod, he screwed this team harder than Smith and Gabriel combined.

Shaq sorry we don't want you. Maybe you didn't get the hint when we spent the summer of 1996 wearing FUQ SHAQ hats and t-shirts and booing you everytime you touched the ball in the O-rena for the last 11 years. You ruined the franchise once by leaving a truly championship quality team that was built to compliment your skills to play for a team that had no real talent at the time but would give you a chance to make bad rap albums. If you are ever given a chance to make decisions on personnel it would probably turn out as well as your movies Kazam & Steel did. You are an aging primaddona has-been. We don't need you to gravy train off Dwight Howard who has 50 time the work ethic you had and 1 million times more class. The only former #32 Magic player we want in the front office is Otis Smith. If you come back here expect the same treatment you gave "Biological". Shaq didn't bother either.

I would take Shaq's comments as a joke. However, if the Magic are every going to be a championship contender, they need stronger and new management. Our list of GMs is about as weak as our list of draftees (excluding first overall picks of Shaq, Penny and Dwight). GM Smith is a nice guy but needs a lot more on the job training to establish that he is anything but average at best in evaluating personnel.

Shaq would make a great GM here in Orlando considering the fact that the only thing management has done in the past decade is draft #12.

Shaq isn't wanted here in Orlando. He lost all Orlando privilages when he bolted for LA, to make rap music and crappy movies. He can go be the GM of the Lakers if they'll have him, which will never happen. Shaq can piss off as far as I'm concerned.

it cant be that hard to be a GM, all you gotta do is not overpay 1 dimensional players by $50 million, trade away guys that other teams voet but you dont play & dont resign backup point guards with no defense to $6-$7 million a year deals. How hard is that?

oh did i forget how easy it is to be GM because all you gotta do is not trade away athletic young guys who play defense for fat 3pt shooting power forwards who dont rebound & a shooting guard that makes you laugh & shake your head when you see him play. Thats it, oh & 1 more thing dont draft players who dont want to play for you & remain overseas but other than those things it should be easy. Right?

I think we should just send him back down to South Florida where he truly belongs. If anyone cares to remember, he went to the Heat and said the same thing a few years back. He even became a deputy sheriff and said he wanted to stay in Miami forever.....
