Derrick Rose landslide Rookie of the Year winner

Derrick Rose is human after all. After displaying humility that strained credulity all season, Rose made a startling admission Wednesday after joining Michael Jordan and Elton Brand as the only Bulls to win the NBA 's Rookie of the Year award.

Seems like Rose is a good kid. He has been an awesome player this year. Its good to see a player with this type of class, equal it with his play.

Rose is proof that you can grow up poor or in a bad neighborhood and not use it as an excuse to be a raging punk.

All it takes is good parenting.

I am thrilled that we will be able to watch him grow as a basketball player as a Chicago Bull. But it is even more enjoyable because he is so humble.

I find Lebron's chalk celebration to be full of pretense and self glorification, fitting with his pompous King James image. I am glad that Rose has no such affectations.

While Jordan clearly had a much larger ego than Rose, he too had strong parenting which made him likable as a person and public figure.

Hopefully Rose can harness a little of that Jordan ego as a competitor, but remain the same humble kid that he is today.

Let's all ask Baroque Obama if he'd kindly ask Luol Deng and his agent to void his $80 million contract on the ground of unjust enrichment and unconscionable over-payment so that we can give the money back to Paxson so he can sign the more deserving player, Ben (I can hit any shot I try) Gordon. If we apply Obamaism rules, then Deng's gotta give the money back; it isn't fair; I paid too much of my taxpayer money for tickets to see the NBA caliber talent on the Bulls, not to subsidize inferior talent, slackers and lame athletes. Congratulations to the Rose family and the city of Chicago. We made the right move to select D. Rose as our pick. The Bulls look great, even when they lost. Chicago is a great city. We should all be proud. Let us continue to build up our community to make more roses in different fields.

Oak Lawn is far from a poor neighborhood! Its actually quite nice in most parts. Rose grew up in Englewood which is arguably the most dangerous area in Chicago. Quite a difference!
