a simple misunderstanding

this is an obvious misunderstanding. see, the people at newsday think it's great that one of the knick's big money stars is gay. so they proudly reported the news. that was the important part of the story for the lefties at newsday. not the supposed harassment. maybe the new owners didn't know what they were buying.

Dolinar's tech column yesterday was a swan song.

I didn't buy Newsday except for Sunday and now the $2 price has me even giving that up.

The Post story mentions an empty office.(Adding to the intrigue, Mancini's office had been cleared out by Friday morning.) Newsday's story leaves that out. The Post writer is known for his "exclusives". I'd trust him before I'd trust a newspaper that has clearly seen better days and now exists only to report on car crashes and fires.

NEWSDAY..are they still in business?

I read a lot a lot of stories in Newsday with pertinent facts missing that the other NY papers report. The Newsday spin is nauseating.

The ones who should go, are the idiots that coronated Tom Souzzi king of Nassau county. What is left of readership, has no idea the amount of damage they have done to LI. I can only hope that those editors (kingmakers) are on the unemployment line.

They let go so many employees who were there for over 20 YEARS!!!! last December. These people truly cared about Newsday, but alas,Cablevision did not understand this nor did "Mancini".What a shame that this once great Newspaper will probably close down in the near future.

It appears (Duh Um) Jimmy Boy Dolan had another temper tantrum over a negative story about the Knicks, only it's in a newspaper Cablevision owns. It was only a matter of time when a conflict of interest would rear its' ugly head. Jimmy Boy did the same thing to Marv Albert when he ACCURATELY report that the Knicks were terrible...

So much for journalistic integritys...

I don't think Cablevision would have paid $650 million to buy Newsday only to close it down. Besides, there's an ingrained readership of Newsday on LI...

NEWSDAY is not alone....and the common denonimator....LIBERAL JOURNALISM and AGENDAS!!

"USA Today, The Wall Street Journal, The Los Angeles Times, The Washington Post, The Chicago Tribune, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Baltimore Sun, The San Jose Mercury News and The Kansas City Star have something in common, aside from some of the biggest names in an endangered industry."

By the start of February, not one of them will have the same top editor it had when 2008 began. Most of them will have different publishers, too.

Go back just three years, and the list of newspapers that have changed editors includes The Daily News of New York, The Philadelphia Inquirer, The Miami Herald, The Star Tribune of Minneapolis, the Chicago Sun-Times, The Plain Dealer of Cleveland and The Sacramento Bee.

...If the Dolan's were smart....they would see their mistakes and lean to the middle....come out of the "darkness" into the light...give your readers what they want....THE TRUTH!

If there has been regime change, I doubt this has anything to do with coverage. Newsday, like a lot of businesses, is hurting financially. What do corporations do in this scenario? Shake things up. Hello!

Newsday got scooped this summer by the NY Times on the LIRR retirement board story because it was asleep at the wheel trying to turn itself into the Long Island version of the Post, a trashy tabloid that's more 'fun' than 'informative.'(keep selling those 'Montauk Monster' T-shirts, that'll save your dying paper)
Now they've been scooped by the Post on a story about their own editors! And the PR people at Cablevision wouldn't give their own newspaper a quote because the story is a complete embarrassment. Cablevision has always shown awful management. It's all nepotism with the Dolans, keep failing upwards, Jim and Pat, daddy will cover the costs of your screw-ups. It must be nice to know you can;t be fired no matter how incompetent (or drunk) you are.
Cablevision bought the electronics chain 'The Wiz" just in time to run it into the ground. They've made the Knicks a laughing stock of the sports world. They're losing cable subscribers to Verizon each day (like me, thanks G-d I don't have to come across News 12 anymore; N12 is Pat Dolan's toy disguised as a local news service). Now it seems they're going to put Newsday out of business. Well for that, we can all say 'thanks.'
goodbye to you

This is the dumbest story I've ever read.

"The Post, citing the absence of Mancini, Henley and Krenek from Newsday's Melville newsroom Thursday and Friday, claimed chaos reigned. It also said the editors' voice mails were not functioning."

Well the story is presumably being written from the newsroom right???? Look over your shoulder... are they there or not!?!

Um, wait a second. This is a Newsday story, written about Newsday, citing "sources" about Newsday.
No one in your own company would go on the record if only to deny the Post's report?
Sounds like chaos to me.
At the very least, Cablevision and its Newsday executives have demonstrated they don't understand the first thing about newspapers or transparency. Funny when you're a media company.

Only goes to show that the father-son team of Chuckie Cheese and Jimmy Dough Boy Dolan are controlling their media companies by dismissing those that have contrasting views...

BTW, has this story been reported on Cablevisions's News12 stations?...

Sounds like the proverbial chickens have come home to roost. It is sad that Newsday has become a caricature of what a serious minded newspaper used to be. There is no longer such a thing as a hard-nosed career news reporter who immerses himself or herself in the streets among the people and digs for real news and the truth. Now, Newsday simply has become another mouthpiece for the Dolan family's agitprop propoganda. The Dolans are a very serious threat to the truthful disemenation of news and information on Long Island. No one group should have the kind of power they have accumulated. They single handedly killed the West Side Stadium because of their own greed. WHat happened to THIER alternative development plan? They walked away from it, didn't they?
