The grandmother of Eddy Curry 's son handed him over to the former Chicago Bulls player's family late Thursday, hours after she disappeared with the child while vowing to defy a court order granting custody to Curry. Full Story

This is typical of one of the great injustices in the child custody situation across the nation. An absentee or non-existent father who is nothing more than a sperm donor gets precedent over the maternal grandparents of the child of their deceased daughter even though they have raised that child as their own. The trauma inflicted on a child is not even taken into consideration by the judicial and child welfare system.

Curry denied even having a son until now, the guy is a dirt bag if he cared even a little bit about his son he would do what was in his best interest not his own. The only care giver this child has is his grandmother, who fortunatley loves him and can provide for him. The only thing this cheap jerk cares about is parting with a buck, he's afraid he will have to write a check to the grandmother.

So please explain how you know this! The answer "YOU DON'T". As divorced father who got custody of his kids, I can say all to often that idiots like you who have no idea of the whole situation all too often make stupid nonfactual comments. Quit speculating moron!

The boy's mother wanted Curry to have custody of her children over her own mother. We don't know why. It may not appear to have been the best choice, but she signed 2 legal custody documents. The court only upheld her wishes.

Also, I believe that I read, at the time of the murders, that it was the baby that he was denying paternity of. I believe that he acknowleged that he was the boy's father, although apparently he was not involved in his life, except for paying child support.

Yolan Henry should have handed over Noah to his father. If money wasn't an issue then she wouldn't have mentioned child support payments being cut off. I feel as though they were going to use that child as financial gain since Nova was getting a nice amount of child support payments from Eddie. That's his son and a "legal" agreement was made for him to take custody if something happened to her. Obviously, Nova felt that Eddie could provide a better life for her children then her mother.

Fact: Grandma clearly loves this child.

Fact: Grandma has no legal standing in the state of IL as long as one of the two parents is living.

People who try to do the right thing do things in desperation like that grandmother did yesterday. They say, "He doesn't even know his father. I'm going to run with him," not to hinder a parent-child relationship, but because they recognize that a little boy only knew his mother and his grandmother, and they're scared for a little child whom they love. His father wasn't around...and now the legal system, in its infinite "wisdom," is giving the child to someone who didn't care enough to spend decent time with him previous to the mother's death.

Ok, his lawyers will argue that it wasn't just two times that he saw his child. So how many? Three? Four? Here's what it appears: The child is 5, and he's cared to see his child probably a handful of times. Eddy's lawyers? Keep putting spins on it, but the public isn't stupid. His child has been at the bottom of his list and he didn't make ample parenting time for him.

Not all mothers who have custody care about their kids. Conversely, "The One," may I suggest that not all fathers who have custody care about their kids, either. Open your eyes to that. It is fact. It is not about gender. It is about the ill-defined "best interest of the child." And sometimes people of either gender have custody of children when they should not have custody of children.

In this case, father has rarely seen the child and IMMEDIATELY cut off moneys for the child. That speaks volumes about his priorities and motives.

God bless the grandmother. She did something out of pain and fear yesterday, but came to her senses regarding the legal ramifications. I only hope that Curry steps up to the plate and becomes what a real DAD should be, and allows the grandmother ample opportunity to be in this little boy's life. The little boy and the grandmother have had enough heartache for a lifetime already.

That's so sad - that poor little boy. First his mother and sister are killed in front of him, now he's yanked away from his grandmother and given to a man he barely knows.

Really Eddy? You didn't want to admit that he was yours to begin with, but now you want to raise him? The person who really will suffer is your poor wife who will have to look at this kid everyday and think, that's the product of one of the afair's you had. How many others are there? This whole story is fishy to me Eddy! While you sit out at practice, games, and flying across the country you will not be there for him! And while you suck it up on the bench collecting a paycheck he will be probably unattended and not getting the attention he deserves! Do you really think your wife will look at him as her own? Doubt it! Let the Grandmother raise him!

This is so sad, I feel the grandmother pain but also the baby need to be around his dad now, he done already lost his mother and sister. She could have vistation rights for her grandson but I don't feel she should have full custody unless Eddie didn't want him or he wasn't alive. A boy needs to be with their dad especially in times of crime like we are in. No body wins it's about the child, it's what best for him. he is only 3 years old and he will be just fine as long as they seek counsling for him because he sat there while his mom and sister was dead and his little mind is filled with that scene. So pray for him because he is in need of it.

No Baseball Mom, he was denying the that Ava was his daughter. Tragically it took the child's autopsy to prove this to him. I hope that Curry keeps the child in contact with his grandmother. The more loving people this baby has in his life, the better it will be.

I went to the same highschool as Eddy and understand how difficult it is to make something of yourself. I think Eddie has good intentions and wish him the best and hopes he makes the right choices in reguards to the company he keeps.

What about the daughter hasn't it been proven that she was fathered by Curry as well? Why is there no mention of her?

The daughter is dead. At one time, Curry disputed paternity of the daughter, but sources say the issue was resolved by paternity tests last year. This stuff was all in the articles from the time of the murders. There's a lot of mis-information in this thread, not to mention racism.

This could be summed-up as 'wealthy mostly absent sperm father/pro jock unleashes expensive pitbull lawyer and, naturally, gets his way.'

And, after telling you all you needed to know to the first two minutes, Channel 7 went on to run a 12 minute extravaganza on this last night.
