Knicks' Curry to attend custody hearing
#1 Mar 19, 2009
First, I would like to say that this is a horrible tragedy for the Henry family and my deepest sympathies to you all! In regards to the custody issue, I know the "law" places Noah in the custody of his father, but why now??? This child has bonded and known no other family than the Henry family. Not even psychologist can predict what, if any, affect his mother and sister's murders will have on him. Will the courts further subject this child to the "loss" he would feel if he is removed from his grandmother! So my question again, why now? Curry is an NBA player, the demands on his time and the traveling that is required, will not be sufficient enough for the emotional development and security Noah needs. He could bond and see Noah just as much if he remained in the custody of the grandmother. At least he will be raised in a loving and stable environment, which is what he needs most right now. I definately don't think Curry should give up his parental rights, the child needs his father. I do however think that he should work out some kind of legal agreement with the grandmother for a modified joint custody. When the child is older, then he can choose to spend more time with his father, step-mother and siblings. To just uproot him from his home into that unfamiliar environment would be detremental to the child. I will be following this story and hope to see some amicable result between the two parties. I just hope that Curry can put aside his own agenda and do what is right for his son, Noah.
